I’d bet a case a beer we negotiate a JCBA with some other carrier before we see another SPA contract. But I agree. I don’t think we got enough in return for what we gave up.

So you are saying we were not included as part of industry average before but now we are?

Any contract that is a net positive for any pilot group, by definition, improves industry average. Pretty simple.

If you mean we gave up our quality of life because we gave up transition conflicts and reserve drops, then yes you are correct. I don’t use either so I see a huge increase in QOL based on: Ltd, scope, pay, rigs, retirement, no reserve drops (yes you read that right.. no reserve drops means line holders will have more flexibility). Transition was on the chopping block in 2010 when the company figured out they had screwed up. Reserve drops was on the chopping block after the May irop. That one sucks for some.

PBS is still to be determined, so we don’t k ow how that will affect things. Could be good, bad, or neutral.

And we are by no means bringing down the industry. Technically we did set the new floor tho.

I disagree. They fought long and hard and lost. Congrats on the new contract.

Chimpy 02-28-2018 11:58 AM

Congrats fo fellow Spirit guys. Obviously we didnt get everything we wanted but we made some GIGANTIC strides. Thanks to the entire SPA MEC & N/C for getting us this deal.

Good luck to F9 & JBlue, hopefully this helps them achieve their goals

Name User 02-28-2018 12:19 PM

The only negative to this was the five year contract, although that could go either way if/when the economy tanks sometime in the next little while.

AA held out for massive gains in 2001 and voted down a decent base hitting contract with lots of improvements, then 9/11 happened and they were stuck with that turd for over a decade.

Welcome to Spirit. The airline that doesn’t care about its passengers, employees, or anyone else. I had an interview at Spirit in 2007. I no-showed for my interview after deciding I didn’t want to work there or even waste my time on an interview. I was fortunate that I had other interviews lined up. I recognized in 2007 what you are just recognizing now. It’s a second or third rate carrier where you can make a decent living.

Crown 02-28-2018 12:39 PM

what are the rates? Someone please post them

skytrails 02-28-2018 12:43 PM

So how long until that aircraft order is announced now?

My understanding was they wanted to have this all done so they could start the March bid period fresh under the new pay scale as to simplify things some what. If that’s the case then they probably meant March 2nd, AKA the beginning of the March bid period.

Well if it it’s 3/1 then it makes about 3/4 of an hour of pay we need to have added to our feb guarantee. And if someone wants to work tomorrow or has already picked up it makes a much bigger difference. I heard March 1st as well but did they mean March 2nd because it’s the start of the March bid period.

They are signing tomorrow so the pay rates go into effect tomorrow - DOS

As a F9 pilot I’m glad you guys got the deal done with significant improvements. As said before this helps us and the whole industry. Congrats!

We will see either a PHL or BWI base, or get bought/merged, before we see any orders come in.....

Seems the prediction is true:

More loud mouths, negativity , & trolls on APC than in reality. Yes voters won out!

Congrats to everyone at Spirit!

So you don’t work here and don’t like our company so why are you wasting your time on our forums still.

That’s technically not true. Our top rates are $20/hr higher at DOS. We still have a little bit of a slope.

Just to reiterate, you blasted me for saying Spirit pilots will lose line bidding, transition, bunch of reserve stuff, 4 days off (essentially useless with PBS) AND won't get legacy rates.

This is precise what you got and y'all are jerking each other off.

Got it

IwasInverted 02-28-2018 04:21 PM

Not sure why 4 days off is useless with Pbs, but what do I know, I’m just a pilot.

For someone who does t work for Spirit you sure stick your nose on our forum an awful lot. Don’t you have some animals you can go torture.

If you elect not to waive it, all your scheduling preferences will be predicated on building you a schedule worth (insert agreed upon hours) and having the 4 days off in between, all other preferences be damned.

I mean, I guess some people want no control over their schedule and all their care about is that 4 days off in between.

IwasInverted 02-28-2018 04:29 PM

Beats 2 on 1 off any day, worry about your own schedule while we enjoy ours.

Just curious as to what happened to the: We're the most profitable airline with the largest margins thus we should be paid the most, industry standard contract at DOS, the legacies are our peers and we demand no less, discount airline/not discount pilots, it'll only increase our CASM by 2 cents!! Attrition is 200%!! We are not LOW TIER!

Was it the plan to demand an industry leading contract until signing an industry trailing one?

Just confused.

Meh, you know how it is, lol. Look man. I get you dont like Spirit, or it’s pilots or whatever but most of us (at least 70%) are pretty happy right now. There are a lot of good things in the TA and a lot of reasons to be thankful. Wasnt that long ago I had a kid on the way and was stressing out over how to save money while making $35/hr at Expressjet as a 7th year F/O,...........

Anyway, time for us to move on.....

Bingo Feng!!

I said the same last year and the cheerleaders said no PBS or we strike. Then they said legacy rates for PBS or we strike. Then they just bent over!

This is at the core of what's wrong. We clearly hired RJ guys that have been beat down and don't think they're worth anything. We should just make new hires pay for their A320 types. OMG!

Get your 30% lanyard so you can feel superior.
Try to humiliate yes voters on APC, but it won’t change anything.
