Open time coverage, rescheduling, XY lists
So is all the open time getting covered now? Three big winter storms in the last two weeks and no melt down. Last March my phone rang off the hook almost daily from Crew scheduling looking to cover flights. It looks like now most everything is getting covered by reserves and very few last minute hand built pairings popping up. I don’t have flica alerts set up but just from checking open time it seems that way.
Have people been getting called on the X and Y lists or is everything just going out at straight pay as flica adds?
Also, if they are using the X Y lists how can we tell if someone gets called and that they go from seniority to reshuffled on a premium credit basis?

I got junior manned the beginning of this month. So did a bunch of people I know. We don’t have that big of a presence in that part of the country compared to most other airlines so our issues would be minimal.

I'm not a fan of straight pay on days off. I understand swapping for more credit. If we all sign up for the x/y lists and avoid the temptations of straight pickups we all get 200%. On another note we need to start learning how to post and use reserve trades as this could be our only salvation to the new contract and not being able to drop reserve days as easily.

My guess is we either have better staffing this year allowing better rsv coverage, or the new rescheduling language is being used well by scheduling and getting the fires out out, or the currently non-transparent X and Y list calls aren’t being reshuffled according to premium credit.
Or people are just happy with their new pay and it’s getting straight pickups from flica.

Yeah that was probably a function of transition conflicts and the X Y list not in place yet. Last year in March my phone rang all month long.

People picking up during an IROP has been an odd thing as scheduling has the ability to pick up trips withing the 48 hours locked out. I used to be able to pick up a two day, one leg each day with a DH on day 2 worth 13:30. Now, easy trips like that are locked out for reserve utilization. I get they always owned those trips, but why allow it pre TA and now lock it out? I would think if it gets covered without burning a RSV pilot, then all the better

So why pick up at straight pay? Im answering this in a pre-TA scenario.....In that in the example above, it was about who was first to get an easy trip with one leg that credited what normally is 3 days. Do you think that would have even made it to schedulers calling for premium pay? It wouldn't even make it to the 200% call mark. Now, that being said, those were far and few between--just like JA calls when you are 33% in base.
Now, post TA...its a moot point as the ability to pick up within 48 is locked out and the X/ list has made it a fair system overall
