I wonder if we might gamble on something like a 330 given our affinity for heading south. Or if we’ll just wait on Airbus to get the NEO right and then try it with a 321 LR.

FWIW, Bendo came into our NH class and the question was asked about a new a/c order and if Spirit would consider a second type. His response was that they have looked at all options and a second type was certainly a viable option. He claims that when “ordering 100-200 airframes, the cost of operating a second type is minimal in the grand scheme of things”. This was about 8 months ago.

So really the NEO's issues aren't on airbus its with the engine providers. Though I haven't really heard of any issues on the leap variant?

I'm curious how much less efficient a Leap is. Seems like a plane that is still far more fuel efficient than the CEO's is a better option than an even more fuel efficient plant that breaks a lot. Then again, Pratt will eventually get the motors right. Usually happens when pushing the boundaries of modern technology. |
