BUT…. I would not want to lose the ability to pick up out of base because most of us are “one displacement away” from needing to pick up out of base to keep some QOL. Same as selling reserve rules, lots of guys in displaced bases on reserve and never expected that until we had the displacement. 2 things can be true, it hurts my personally but I’m fine with it staying at NK because it helps our pilots and their family life and in the end that means more to me than whoring out for X list like some guys do. Who knows if it stays with JBLU. Time will tell. |
Don’t have to worry about picking out of base when you’re a reserve captain for a bunch of years

Go do your homework, spend a little less time with the jokey boy routine. and come one. You know you giggle too at my stuff. |

Yes, that Is a horrible idea! It undermines seniority, reduces premium opportunities and is an all around terrible idea. If you can’t hold where you live you shouldn’t get to fly trips there. Same with JB instructors that are based elsewhere but get to fly out of MCO undermining seniority and making it so MCO is artificially full and magically no Vacancy at the inn.

the first part of what you said is not what happens in reality.
the second part of what you said, I have never ever heard of a pilot belly ache about that…ever! I have never heard of anybody complain about picking up at a base… well from an actual Spirit pilot. Only good things to say. |

Where were you for the epic LEC 109 meeting? The council had its largest turnout in history trying to pass a resolution to end out of base pickups
but anyways never heard of this though. So a resolution huh? Like the whole pilot group will get to vote on this? |
Is there a cinder block wall near by I can bang my head against??

lol Epic!? What does that translate to? 10 pilots made it. I couldn’t even tell you what base 109 is or even mine for that matter.

Doubt it makes the JCBA Final Cut. |

Guess you guys haven’t looked at a vacancy bid recently, but there hasn’t been a new hire assigned to ACY for months. LAS is the junior base lately, followed by FLL.

Pretty much every base on the FO side is obtainable within a few months.

Is there any particular reason why FLL doesn't seem too popular?

There could be several reasons why FLL (Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport) is not a popular base for Spirit Airlines pilots. Here are some possible explanations:

If you are a boater or fisherman you need to be comfortable in uncomfortable conditions bc the prevailing east wind blows most days of the year and most of those on the water with you are either wasted or have zero experience or both. As a golfer I hope you like to sweat your balls off. Public schools are horrible with the exception of maybe three pockets in which case they can be pretty good. |
Miami Co base is why no one wants FLL
|
I don't hear too much about the IAH base. I know it's fairly new. Good or bad? Junior or not?

Well I'm like 120ish in FLL, I'd be #4 or 5 in IAH. Very tempting, but who knows if it'll stay open....

Is IAH hard to get as new hire ? Starting my class on May

Not just no outdoor activities; from what one friend says there's no culture as well. People in south FL don't enjoy higher-cultured activities like seeing classical or jazz music, plays and ballets, art museums, etc. The culture is just bars/clubs, drinking, and being a douche. It's the main reasons she moved back to NYC.
