2 things can be true, it hurts my personally but I’m fine with it staying at NK because it helps our pilots and their family life and in the end that means more to me than whoring out for X list like some guys do. Who knows if it stays with JBLU. Time will tell.

Hey, I think you fair points. In the JCBA, I hope we keep some of the things that we’ve come to know and love. Especially bases. You’re right though, only time will tell.

BeechedJet 03-24-2023 08:32 PM

Don’t have to worry about picking out of base when you’re a reserve captain for a bunch of years

this is a ridiculous post

You haven’t dealt with the professional flica operators that we have. You’ll see.

Didn’t JetBlue fire some pilots for flica bots once upon a time. I wish spirit would make an example out of someone honestly

the second part of what you said, I have never ever heard of a pilot belly ache about that…ever! I have never heard of anybody complain about picking up at a base… well from an actual Spirit pilot.

Only good things to say.

Where were you for the epic LEC 109 meeting? The council had its largest turnout in history trying to pass a resolution to end out of base pickups

lol Epic!? What does that translate to? 10 pilots made it. I couldn’t even tell you what base 109 is or even mine for that matter.

but anyways never heard of this though. So a resolution huh? Like the whole pilot group will get to vote on this?

Tranquility 03-26-2023 02:58 AM

Is there a cinder block wall near by I can bang my head against??

Understand your history or it’s doomed to repeat itself.

our history of picking up out of base is going to doom us? Please tell me more.

Doubt it makes the JCBA Final Cut.

“This company never follows the contract - what’s an ncc?”

In my 10 years here I've never heard anyone say that. Don't be so dramatic.

How long for IAH right now? Also what are reserve times looking like currently at the junior bases

The history of factions of this pilot group trying to remove the provision not the other way around

Is ACY still a junior?

ACY is junior at the very bottom of the FO list and is a revolving door as usual.

Judge Smails 03-29-2023 08:32 AM

Guess you guys haven’t looked at a vacancy bid recently, but there hasn’t been a new hire assigned to ACY for months. LAS is the junior base lately, followed by FLL.

ACY is about 5-6 months right now

MCDUmanipulator 03-29-2023 11:49 AM

Pretty much every base on the FO side is obtainable within a few months.

Is there any particular reason why FLL doesn't seem too popular?

Open AI (ChatGPT) response as to why FLL doesn’t seem to be a popular base with Spirit Pilots;

There could be several reasons why FLL (Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport) is not a popular base for Spirit Airlines pilots. Here are some possible explanations:
  1. High Cost of Living: The cost of living in Fort Lauderdale is relatively high compared to other cities, making it challenging for pilots to maintain a comfortable lifestyle, especially with starting salaries.
  2. Commuting Challenges: Many pilots prefer to live close to their base, but Fort Lauderdale's limited housing options can make it difficult for them to find affordable housing nearby. This forces them to commute long distances, which can add to their work hours and negatively affect their work-life balance.
  3. Competition with other airlines: With several other airlines operating out of Fort Lauderdale, pilots may have more job options and may choose to work for other airlines that offer better pay, benefits, and working conditions.
  4. Work Schedule: The work schedules of Spirit Airlines pilots may not align with their personal commitments or preferences, making it less attractive to be based in FLL.
  5. Company Culture: It's also possible that Spirit Airlines' company culture and work environment may not appeal to pilots, leading them to prefer working for other airlines with better work cultures and benefits.

I think the problem is that it has become too popular and people won't stop cramming themselves into such a small area thanks to remote work. Or are you referring specifically to the NK FLL domicile?

UsernameDenied 03-29-2023 09:08 PM

Yes, I was referring to the NK FLL base.. But it seems the ChatGPT knows all.. Thanks Halon

SFL has the rudest most self absorbed population I’ve ever run into, the most dangerous driving conditions in the USA, highest insurance rates home and auto if you can even get the former, summer heat lasts all day and night for 10-11mo of the year, and unless you are an avid boater or golfer there are basically no outdoor activities.

If you are a boater or fisherman you need to be comfortable in uncomfortable conditions bc the prevailing east wind blows most days of the year and most of those on the water with you are either wasted or have zero experience or both. As a golfer I hope you like to sweat your balls off.

Public schools are horrible with the exception of maybe three pockets in which case they can be pretty good.

BananaHammock 03-30-2023 03:09 AM

Miami Co base is why no one wants FLL

zero610 03-30-2023 05:14 AM

I don't hear too much about the IAH base. I know it's fairly new. Good or bad? Junior or not?

Well I'm like 120ish in FLL, I'd be #4 or 5 in IAH. Very tempting, but who knows if it'll stay open....

Same, but LAS. But we just stopped flying from my home to IAH......

Not just no outdoor activities; from what one friend says there's no culture as well. People in south FL don't enjoy higher-cultured activities like seeing classical or jazz music, plays and ballets, art museums, etc. The culture is just bars/clubs, drinking, and being a douche. It's the main reasons she moved back to NYC.

That’s a good thing, we need more people in FL to move back to NYC.
