Depending which day of the month you start training, you may find yourself bidding almost right away. If you luck out and get your choice great. If not, you will have a couple more opportunities to bid again before training is over.

Since it is a vacancy bid, it starts at the top of seniority list and moves down, and this can create secondary vacancies that were not part of the original bid.

First time around you and your classmates will get whatever is leftover as you are the last dogs at the bowl, but most bases are possible before training is over or shortly after.

“Punch-a-Hole” The Price is Right style.

The last day of ground school all the pupils lineup. You go up to a giant board and punch a random hole.

there are;

30 LAS
30 FLL/MIA
25 MCO
15 ATL
10 ORD
10 DTW
8 ACY
1 lucky DFW spot for the grand winner.

and please, Don’t forget to get your pets spayed and neutered!

Have the displacement previews provided any insight of certain bases becoming more senior or junior?

Might ATL end up junior because no one was there before? Or probably just still Florida..?

Rumor and conjecture welcome as well (of course…)

Default Jr bases at Spirit

Most likely not, going forward. Unless there is massive attrition from those bases.

As to the post asking about LAS, I think it stays the same or maybe grows some from the combined current network, and stays a crew base. I think Joanna mentioned that as one of the west coast growth opportunities they are looking at post merger.
When you consider that many of those cities are boutique cities, one flight a day to JFK or maybe one flight a day to BOS, you’re left with a list only about 7 or 10 cities long. People in those cities don’t bother looking at JetBlue flights… they only go to JFK/BOS, and that leaves most of the country unreachable even though “JetBlue flies to Milwaukee!”

ABQ has one flight a day - to JFK. MCI has two flights a day - one each to BOS or JFK. Houston, San Antonio, Dallas… each have one flight to JFK and one flight to BOS.

Compare those cities to Dominican Republic - 29 flights a day to 6 different JetBlue hubs.

Except for MCO and LAS, JetBlue really doesn’t stray too far from salt water.

Last 3 classes went entirely LAS and FLL with the exception of one ACY. It appears by your second bid MCO is on the table, and maybe DTW, and ATL?

That blows... I was hoping for MCO right out the gate so I can wait there until DFW acquires me through attrition. lol

We bid every month. When I was in training, it took me 3 bids to get to DFW. By the time I got the award, I spent only 1 month “commuting” to FLL. I put that in quotes because your first month will be a relief line and you can trade your trips into MCO trips during that time. I would guess you’d be able to get to MCO within a couple months of finishing IOE.

You'll be contributing to the attrition soon enough living in DFW
