As someone starting at Spirit soon and wanting ORD that is great to hear if it ends up being the case

Pre 2020 was there not a discussion from HQ that we were slotted to move concourses in ORD in the 2024 timeframe with some realignment that ORD was planning and we would get more gates? The gate constraints at ATL, DFW, ORD, IAH, FLL, etc. don't help.

We are supposedly swapping a couple gates in ORD soon with AA as they can put two RJs in each at the end of the L gates. I've heard rumors we are moving to either the H or K gates this Fall and will have 3-4 more gates than we currently do now. Long term plan is to move to Terminal 5 but that is years away and we will be JetBlue by the time that happens.

All of us here maintain we aren't plumbers but should be compared to lawyers and doctors, nvm they aren't union, and still make more than we do. But at least we come across as just as educated..... Pretty sure over on hospitaldoctercentral and courthouselawyercentral you see they same stupid $#!t posted.....

That's pretty funny. I actually feel bad for my Primary as I can't imagine working his hours and raising two kids while keeping his wife, then arguing pay and QOL with other Docs when off duty on some random website. Who am I kidding? I can't imagine raising one kid.

Also as a former General Contractors "carry that pile of crap to over there" guy, I was not the sharpest nail in the gun.

I'm just yanking your chain as Mom was a teacher and poor grammar was corrected immediately, and I think the bigger the crowd the louder the correction. I think you're bi-lingual which is something I admire in anyone. Always amazes me when listening to guys down south intentionally mock Spanish controller accents. I always say "You know that controller just demonstrated he's twice as smart as us, in at least one way".

Anyway, this last few years have been the weirdest I've lived through in this industry. "What base can I demand, and from what airline" during the interview.

nobody ever said the shrinkage would be permanent. They needed to open iah and ATL and had to get pilots from somewhere to do it.

believe it or not, captains here make more than a large number of doctors and lawyers. Most primary care, pediatricians etc don’t make much above the low 200’s. Specialists are where the money starts going up

A minimum of 5 years is what Management said was the determination when they posted the displacement bid. They said if they felt they would need that staffing within the next 5 years, they wouldn’t have done the displacement.

NK doesn’t know how to make money in non leisure bases. Unless there is a casino, an amusement park, or cruise ships, they don’t know how to grow a base. IAH and ATL will get to mid size level bases and then probably go stagnant as well, while they look to add 1-2 more bases this year.

Even Miami hasn’t been as strong as they hoped. They hoped the domestic travel would have been better out of Miami, not so much. Teddy said it was because FLL is so strong. Haha. Ok Ted

Domestic to where? Most of Miami is from Latin America or Russian. They aren’t visiting anywhere in the US and the rest of the US (spirit customers) really doesn’t think they can afford to be in Miami once they are there.
