There could be several reasons why FLL (Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport) is not a popular base for Spirit Airlines pilots. Here are some possible explanations:
- High Cost of Living: The cost of living in Fort Lauderdale is relatively high compared to other cities, making it challenging for pilots to maintain a comfortable lifestyle, especially with starting salaries.
- Commuting Challenges: Many pilots prefer to live close to their base, but Fort Lauderdale's limited housing options can make it difficult for them to find affordable housing nearby. This forces them to commute long distances, which can add to their work hours and negatively affect their work-life balance.
- Competition with other airlines: With several other airlines operating out of Fort Lauderdale, pilots may have more job options and may choose to work for other airlines that offer better pay, benefits, and working conditions.
- Work Schedule: The work schedules of Spirit Airlines pilots may not align with their personal commitments or preferences, making it less attractive to be based in FLL.
- Company Culture: It's also possible that Spirit Airlines' company culture and work environment may not appeal to pilots, leading them to prefer working for other airlines with better work cultures and benefits.

I think the problem is that it has become too popular and people won't stop cramming themselves into such a small area thanks to remote work. Or are you referring specifically to the NK FLL domicile?
