Yea, very senior on the captain side. I upgraded in another base. But Spirit allows out-of-base pickups, so when you hold a line you can drop trips and pick up from whatever base you like. Once I hold a line in my base I'll likely drop trips and pick up from AC.Originally Posted by DrSteveBrule
Very senior. You will likely never upgrade into ACY at status quo, and likely never reach a top 10% FO schedule before upgrading into another base. FO was around 9 months to a line last i checked. Best chance at staying close to home if working for Spirit for the duration of a career is hoping for a new base, whether it's EWR, PHL, or BWI.

Yes, that Is a horrible idea! It undermines seniority, reduces premium opportunities and is an all around terrible idea. If you can’t hold where you live you shouldn’t get to fly trips there. Same with JB instructors that are based elsewhere but get to fly out of MCO undermining seniority and making it so MCO is artificially full and magically no Vacancy at the inn.Originally Posted by Halon1211
horrible idea to pick up out of base??

This is a terrible take, but the reason not to do it at Spirit is because the commuter policy only covers your base.Originally Posted by Bluediver

if that’s true, they don’t enforce it. Ask me how I know.Originally Posted by JulesWinfield

senior people have all the opportunity in the initial bid and IOT to get what they want. I disagree with the premium trips comment.
It reduces staffing requirements in smaller bases.
the company is more than happy to have more
pilots Based in jfk knowing they can understaff mco because guys will just pick up trips at straight pay out of base.
it reduces the number of available slots in smaller bases, reduces schedule flexibility for inbase pilots, reduces premium pay opportunities for inbase pilots.
