Curious if we will still try to get busses from other failed airlines....

Anyone know how many aircraft are leased? Is there a known lease return schedule?

Regardless it’s safe to say we’ll have 300 aircraft by 2027

On the investor relations link from the Spirit website there’s a fleet plan that’s shows 193 aircraft (net) at the end of 2021 and prior to the new order.
Do that number includes any lease returns.

Lease returns show up as negative numbers if not offset by higher added in the same cell, IIRC from older fleet plans. I don’t think we are retuning any NEOs, so no lease returns in 20&21 AFAIKT.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we do. The presentation for the new HQ included a statement that we will be 300+ airplanes

I believe you’re correct. There are no numbers in parentheses which would indicate a reduction in any of the columns on the fleet plan. Not even the A319’s.

In all forward looking statements I’ve seen & heard, it’s been around 15%/yr growth ASM, so double every 5 to 6 years (obviously going to stop at some point). For that to continue we would mean adding about (depending on 319/320/321 ratios) 193 aircraft from 22 till 27, or 30/yr, this order adds 17/yr (25 if including options) if spread out evenly.

But you know what they say about forward looking statements.

10 years from now we will see how big and successful the ULCC market can get. With Spirit now headed to 300 airplanes and Frontier headed to well over 200, it'll test the market.

Can (with Allegiant) the US market handle 600 ULCC planes? Can Spirit and Frontier grow this big without getting in too many turf wars?
