1 class/month to June
58 new pilots/month July to November
20+ upgrades/month July to November
December will probably slow because of the holidays
January could go back to 58 and 20 if needed

That’s a lot of training. With those numbers what will the projected numbers be for the year (Jan-Dec)?

What’s the reason for such low numbers? Slow down in attrition?

What's low? The current highering numbers? We were staffed and didn't need more. 60 and 20 is about the max we can do a month and what we do/did when we go full training.

No. It doesn’t.

What makes you say that? Just because the company has thousands of apps, doesn’t mean all are qualified or competitive. There’s probably many who applied even if it’s not their #1 choice.

Most of the FOs I fly with do not have their apps in at the LCCs. And the few captains I know at my shop aren’t targeting the LCCs. Just my limited experience though.

Spirit will be a great fit for me. Not commuting is huge as is a non double breasted jacket hat wearing culture. Works for some, not for me.

From what you’ve seen, still doesn’t chage the fact that majority of our new hires are ex regional pilots. In the past year it’s been mostly Expressjet and Skywest. There’s still many regional Captains with multiple internal recs that still haven’t got a call.

How long does it take from the time you interview until you get the study material and start the background process?

Maybe worry about passing the interview and getting hired first.

I still have buddies like what you talked about at the regionals. They’re still waiting on the call from their preferred legacy, I took the first place that called, Spirit, and I’ve already upgraded while they are still waiting and waiting... All while they’re flying around making $90 an hour. I’m not a genius or anything and everyone has to do what’s best for them and their families but I think you need to have a pretty solid reason to keep waiting for that one call and leaving years of would be seniority behind you just for the hope that one day your favorite airline calls. The difference between being on the front of a hiring wave and the back end can be a huge loss of QOL in the latter years of your career.
