Reserve QOL
Just curious how reserve quality of life has changed since the PBS went into effect? Can a reserve holder drop some days and pick up open trips during those days?
|
QOL has gone down. No, you can’t drop R days and pick up during those days.

You can’t drop days, that part stinks. As far as rsv though, it’s not bad. 3hr call out/14hr on long call. No airport standby. You can self release 6 hrs before the end of your last day of reserve .

You can’t do any schedule manipulation on reserve anymore, it’s terrible.

3 hours to push not 3 hour callout. in the entire rest of the industry the callout is notification to showing up, for some reason we run this "phone call to push" idea which is absurd.

it is but it isn't. it makes it nearly impossible to compare apples to apples and people fall in the misinformation. Look at the poster above. 3 hour callout.
Someone reading assumes that's what we have, and that's just not the case. |
This has only been beat over and over again.
It’s 3 hours ready to push. This isn’t “essentially a 2 hour call out” This isn’t “45 minute show so it’s a 2:15 hour call out with a 45 minute show time” This isn’t “plane is ready to push in 3 hours” It’s “the pilot will arrive at the aircraft and be ready to depart within 3 hours of receiving notification of the trip” You have 15 minutes to call scheduling back when notified of the trip, that isn’t not counted in the 3 hours time. There is no definition of what “ready to depart” means. So if you can be ready to depart in 5 minutes after taking your seat, there you go. Plane can push late, it’s pilot ready to depart. It’s all covered in the new hire guide on the Alpa website. |
Thanks for everybody's responses and clarifying this 3-hour rule!
Can anyone venture an educated guess on how long it takes to hold a line in LAS and ORD for a new hire?
