Can you at least trade with other reserves for a little schedule improvement?

Nope. The only thing you can do is drop one reserve day per 12 month calendar window using a vacation day. If it’s green.

Are you sure?

“Mutual trades involving LCR days or SCR periods must be for the same type of reserve duty (i.e., no LCR for SCR trades or vice versa allowed). However, an entire block of LCR days may be traded with an entire block of SCR periods, provided that the revised schedules do not conflict with the pilots' existing schedules. Mutual R day trades will be permitted from the “outside in” only. Mutual trades resulting in a single R day will not be allowed.”

You can drop a block of reserve days once a year using vacation. Not just one day.

You're full of wrong info today

That’s true but not in your first year unfortunately.

This is correct. Theoretically we could trade R days with each other. In practice the trade board is blank for R day trades.

Figured this might be the best place to ask.

I interview on October 25 and from reading previous replies on the forum it sounds like if all goes well I could receive a job offer 1-2 weeks after the interview with a class date 1-2 months out. That puts a class date right around Jan 2020. Is it possible to push the class date? And if so how far out does Spirit allow the class date to be pushed? A change in my plans means I won't be able to take a class date until Spring 2020 now, advice from you all would be appreciated. Push the interview? Interview then defer the class date? Or just talk to the recruiter before the interview and ask for their advice?

I’d interview and make sure I actually have the job before getting into class dates as not everyone gets offered the job. Once you get the phone call, I’d let SF know that a Spring class date would work best. But, just remember even though they are planning on running classes through 2020 that can change quickly.

Hard to say. During the interview, HR will directly ask you when your available start date is going to be. My advice is to share your plan changes during the interview. They are really nice, realistic and respectful people they have here in HR and I think being honest will be the best bet.

Seniority is everything. Deferring a few months could literally change your life for the worse. Maybe not, but if we are hiring a bunch during that time period it could be a huge deal. Something to think about.
