I'm in an Oct class. Badge first day of training. KCM was during week 2. I got cass during my week at home for CBTs. There are a few in my class who don't have it. It's not under Spirit's control. If you have previous employment at numerous airlines, especially in other countries, they may take awhile to get back to Spirit. There is a minimum amount of time that needs to pass if they don't get a reply before they can continue in the CASS approval process. Almost every prior 121 guy has gotten CASS. New hires are staying at a few hotels. most are going to the Sheraton. Some are at the Homewood Suites by the training center. Some are also at the Hilton Garden Inn. I think there may be another hotel too that I'm not remembering. My class has the day before, day of, and day after off for all holidays. No positive space travel home for holidays. For the break for at-home CBTs, they will positive space you. They went as far as buying tickets on other airlines for those that weren't in a spirit-served city. Idk how common that is though. YMMV.

Good info. Thank you for that. I ended up buying a round trip for the holidays just in case. Worst case, I start driving!

Worst case is you miss your flight back to class and they remove you from class

That’s the worst case.

Don’t sweat it. I went home every weekend. Also home was half way across the country.

I probably wont go home every weekend but there are blocks of 4 days off in some places. Can we buy a reduced fare on Spirit flights once we have a badge? Or do we have to be in CASS/KCM and all that?

There is no such animal as a reduced fare at Spirit. If you decide to purchase a revenue ticket on spirit on the teamtravel spirit website, it’s the same rate that normal people can purchase at Spirit.com. The only discount you have is that you get one checked bag and one carry on bag included with the purchase of your ticket.

Talk to a gate agent a see if they can pull up the fares. Usually if you buy a ticket at the counter it’s cheaper than online.

It’s a trade off.

You save on a specific tax but you’re no longer eligible for the free bag.
So it’s a pick your own adventure...save on the tax or get the bags free

If I buy a ticket, I make sure my bag is on the ticket. I don’t want to put an agent in a position of me trying to bring a bag on, that isn’t paid for, on a revenue ticket. Not fair to them. So I always buy the ticket online and get the bags free; family too.

We use to have "Pennies" Fares, on some routes and certain days. I don't know if we still have those. You basically pay for the taxes. It doesn't hurt to have the agent check the prices. As far as bags, at my home airport, Somehow i get bags added when the tickets is purchase without ever asking. All of this info was given to me by an agent, and that's why i've always buy my tickets at the counter.
