So slinging gear for you has “a meaning behind it”... but taking the first possible upgrade for you wasn’t an ego decision? Sorry bud, calling bullspit.

Lifestyle matters and if furloughs hit deep enough, you get downgraded anyways. By your own admission you went to the left seat as soon as you could because the 4th stripe soothed your rampant insecurities as a “high lift device and undercarriage repositioning technician”

Commuting to lcr doesn’t suck that bad. They always give me much more than 14 notice.

I upgraded during negotiations. I went from mid 70s/hr to mid 130/hr. Extra 4.2k a month for me as a commuter was no brainer. Another thing was I wanted to be in the left seat if we were sold off or merged and their was a fence...or like now have everything come to a halt. Yeah, if the furloughs do happen and I get downgraded to FO I still made/saved more money in the 3+ years as a CA. That’s me though, I don’t have a side hustle so I just saved up.
