They’re offering SIGNIFIVANTLY less VILs in July. Could be a sign they think they’ll actually need us?

I believe so. A decent chunk of OT showed up in ORD today. Some 4 day trips even. I’m sure other bases saw similar increases in flying.

Sounds like 550 or so flights a day in July. I gotta think they wouldn’t be launching all of this on a whim and prayer. I suspect they are seeing the demand to justify it.

Definitely seems to be moving in the right direction.

If they burn down the Magic Kingdom there won't be any reason to fly there.

man, some people are desperate to bring politics into any discussion. Turn your cable news off, makes life much easier.

Huh? You don’t think massive civil unrest this summer will effect air travel?

Sure, don’t keep up to date on current events. As they say, “ignorance is bliss”.

Massive civil unrest? Yes.

A little civil unrest most likely being exacerbated by the media? Probably not.

This will blow over in another week or so.

OK, let’s check back in a week. You have clearly turned off your TV.

Let's do. And yes I have turned off my TV...I have zero desire to waste mental bandwidth meddling in that garbage.

Fortunately you get to live in a bubble, but millions of Americans don’t have that luxury right now. Last night I got to watch National Guard vehicles driving down my road and smoke rise above my city as fires burned at local business.

Sucks to be you. I got to watch deer running down my dead end dirt road as I look out over hundreds of acres of rolling hills and woodlands.

I guess perspective skews one's thinking.

Hahaha, that's AWESOME!

It's not a bubble, it's a choice and you may want to exercise it. It's only getting worse and has been and will be again when we eventually get another Democrat as President.

This is not to say that our current twitter fanatic has brought us together but the previous one did a bunch to bring our division to a boil instead of just letting it be. Of course if you believe that we can ever exist equally then I understand your desire to live in the inner city.

Best of luck, especially if you're a typical white male, "privileged", pilot.

Slowhawk 05-31-2020 09:36 AM

It’s just this week’s story from the media. Every week they want you to be losing your mind, and for some reason, picking a side (right or left), over some issue.

like almost every issue they cover, in 14 days it will be a distant memory. And like every issue they cover, they blow it out of proportion.

no one is canceling their July vacation over this lol. The only thing that worries me is if these stupid gatherings are going to cause another spike in the virus and the ramifications that might have on Spirit.

This.

Nludy is sitting in the middle of some of it and lost SA. We live in a pop tart, instant gratification, YOLO world. Remember the guy tracked down and shot in Georgia a few weeks ago? Neither do most of the morons burning down their neighborhoods.

We’ll get out first hurricane of the season, some a**hole will sow political discord or professional sports will start back up and the discussions and media coverage will change.

I’m looking forward to getting back to normal and hearing more about murder hornets.

The best thing Americans can do right now is turn off the TV, log off of social media, and head outside for the some vitamin D. Most have been cooped up at home for far, far too long.

They're not bad. Taste like chicken. If you cook 'em right.

So I guess Coronavirus is dead now? What happened to the constant CNN cases/death counter on the right side of the screen? It all just went away. And what happened to social distancing? Not everyone is wearing masks and many who are wearing it incorrectly.

On to the next crisis. If it bleeds, it leads.

HanYolo 06-01-2020 06:39 AM

It is important to know what actually goes on in the world and unfortunately the only way to do that is to read/watch the news.
When news outlets turn up the sensationalism to level 11 though, I tend to check out and only keep up with essential information. The (news) media should go back to reporting ‘what’ is going on moreover the speculation as to ‘why’ it’s happening. They lack the expertise.

Halon1211 06-01-2020 06:59 AM

The media is responsible for inciting the riots. Notice when a black man is killed by a white cop. The media always states what their races are. But funny when it’s the other way around they never mention it...if it even makes the news at all. Thugs killing cops and white people happen all the time, but why make that national news when you can really fan the flames else where.

oh I guess I this should have something to do with aviation...

...MD-11 are really cool planes

This is 100% correct. If it doesn't fit their agenda the media will not report. Everything the media does report it twists to fit its agenda.

Flightcap 06-01-2020 07:35 AM

Never has this phenomenon been on more obvious display than in the last week. The second the ol'-reliable race issue was available as a chaos generator, they kicked coronavirus to the curb like an old Walmart bag.

CAirBear 06-01-2020 07:43 AM

Anyhow, TSA screened 352,000 yesterday. Friday was 327,000. Typically Fri/Sun numbers are almost the same. Im curious if even more folks flew Sunday that are starting a weeks vacation or so.

Funny fact. According to Car and Driver, the Miata is a sports car. Key word...funny. I actually like the little shiz box.

69fastback 06-01-2020 06:16 PM

The Miata is less of a sports car than a focus 😑

I don’t mind the car, just the people that own and drive them:D
