Historically June, July, August are strong months for travel. Not sure if we can make a conclusion yet.

For us, they’ve said that they are basing our fall staffing numbers on how strong July is. So, it is relevant.

MCDUmanipulator 06-02-2020 03:15 PM

Keep in mind the numbers can only climb so high until flights are added.

Tranquility 06-02-2020 05:23 PM

Also, we don’t know what these fares are being sold for. $17? $20? $50? Yields matter.

Add $55 on average to each and its palatable to keep the business running.

BeechedJet 06-02-2020 06:42 PM

I finally got to fly the other day, full 319 + sixty something bags. Not bad I’d say.

They are not looking at fall for the staffing, its for spring/summer of 2021. If the decision is a smaller airline is whats needed for survival. Its because, they believe the demand wont return before than. Thats what July/August will be useful for in determining, and a good glimpse into the recovery.

Unload any of your position at all?? The only criticism I can give on this trade is you should have bought in tranches to lower your overall basis. Still, nicely done so far. “Be greedy when others are fearful....”

senecacaptain 06-03-2020 07:54 AM

My uneducated observation is SAVE is the best performing airline stock in the last month or so.

great job guys

Still sitting on my 6K shares from 9.80 last month. I knew all along this CV was a scam which led to significant buying opportunities. Thanks for the work! I almost feel like the CEO as he stares at his options going up and up.

nicely done ! I only bought 1100 shares Under $10. So I’m up but not as handsomely as you . Question is your shares in a tax sheltered account ? Remember if it isn’t and you sell
it for a profit before holding it a year, it’s taxed as normal income 😝.

So tempted to sale today, but I keep telling myself it has a long way to climb if Spirit kills it over the next year. I put in a large (for me) contingency order at $8.10 or less and it executed my purchase at $8.05. Selling today means doubling my money plus paying taxes.

It’s all in my 401k with 1/2 in the Roth 401k so no taxes, at least for a while. I believe she hits 20 by mid month and will trend up to the 30s as the economy continues to open and bookings increase. Glta.

RemoveB4flght 06-03-2020 10:47 AM

Most airlines stocks today got a push from the talk of bans on Chinese carriers.

I also bought in sub $9 and cashed out today at $17

It’s not that I think our stock won’t continue to rise, but I have a hunch it will sink a bit before it does. I’ll probably buy back in at some point with my original ante.

Either way, when you see a 100% gain it’s never a bad thing to sell. Few grand to offset my VIL last month.

Still holding it.

My only regret is not buying more when SAVE dropped to $7-9 range for the three days after I bought it.

Huge base to launch off from!

Wish I’d bought more than 50 shares. But, I’m still first year and facing a possible furlough.

That's my feeling too. I feel like cash is king until we're out of the darkness. Still building the rainy day (decade) fund so there isn't a lot to play with.

DrSteveBrule 06-03-2020 02:44 PM

I was buying and selling the roller coaster the past 3 weeks with super success, keep waiting for a dip now and it's just not happening. As soon as i make a margin buy it'll crater back to 12.

Fredturbo 06-03-2020 02:53 PM

Up .93 after hours to 18.24 on huge volume.

1.22 now. Several positive articles today. Here’s hoping.

ive got modest earnings locked in with a stop limit if it drops again..... I’d much rather see it just keep on climbing. The last two days have been ridiculous. Went from OP CLB to expedite

Yes because every morning when you folks are up 10-15%, I've missed my opportunity. Push it or pull it and dial in a slow descent...just a slow one😁...just for one day.

OK so I've been out of training for a month and probably a. Month to OE.. . Ithis confusion I'm experiencing is either alcohol induced or a clear sign I better hit the books...

DrSteveBrule 06-03-2020 06:28 PM

haha yeah i need a good steep profit-taking pull back. It'll happen. Totally normal and the way ya really make money with stocks.

is that what that does? I haven’t flown in so long I can’t remember what half the knobs do anyway.

Me neither. I try to push them. If that doesn’t work, I pull them. Once in a while I can get this thing pointed to where I need it to go, but more often than not I have the FO do it.

This, kiddos, is why pilots don’t make good traders. Too emotional. Too many “I have a hunch” thoughts creating some sort of panic. The easy route has been to simply buy a beaten down stock and hold for more than a couple of weeks.
This is as she buts up against 20 (which is still a fantastic price). The economy is opening back up and people will travel. We should see the 30s later this year. Or you can try to guess the price based on a hunch and miss out on massive gains. I prefer to make triple digits versus single digits. Glta...

DrSteveBrule 06-04-2020 05:32 AM

except every single professional investor doesnt take a single lump of cash, buy low and sell high, because one of two things will happen. The stock tanks or ya hold a nice take, but those that incrementally buy and sell are constantly reaveraging to stretch percentage gains to numbers higher than the charted line. If you're really confident in the stock, you should own calls.

Some of my best % gains were trading out of the money leaps. The biggest downside was not enough volume to sell when I wanted, but oh boy, the gains were addictive.

DrSteveBrule 06-04-2020 06:47 AM

yeah volume is a big issue with options. I was bag holding julys on CZR since march, was trying to dump them, finally it popped upward and volume came back made a nice bit after being frustrated for two months. Also had july 22.50s for STOR sold at a loss. Itll prolly get there, (just got there) but so slow just regular market shares would've been a better play there. Wish I wouldve bought SAVE July 20 calls last week. Were going for 20 dollars a contract. Someone is making a lot of money right now. Anyway, big ask wall at 20.88 for SAVE. Appears market maker is working hard to keep the price from breaking through.

I made a 100% return on my money, what is panicked about that? Nothing emotional about realizing a gain and moving on to something else.

I unloaded enough of my shares to break even. Still have half of them in, so if it keeps going up I’ll be happy. If it tanks again then I’ll use the money I cashed out to buy more.
