Correct. It needs repeating... Spriit navblue reserve bidding is garbage. It just doesn't honor seniority. It was pointed out from the beginning but "you won't be on rsv long" and "but you keep your same rap" were the worthless answers.

Say for instance you want to bid long call above some of your crappier pbs line bid solutions. YOU CANT without risking short call award.
--And before someone comes back with this "Max rsv above" option nonsense, I have to point out that that only works if NO ONE senior to you bid short call AND the company sticks to the anticipated number of LC lines (usually correct since it's always contractual minimum LC lines)
Completely not honorong seniority. It doesnt have to work like this.

By not bidding for any days off hoping you will get your preferred rap all you've done is let the system just pick your days off, and only then will it award a rap over those now random days off.

But you get to keep your rap all month! Spirit rsv is the BEST!

Reserve language is the reason I voted no on this contract. What's funny is we didn't even know that we couldn't bid a RAP (like we could before the contract) until after the contract was signed and when we chose NAVBLUE (for reasons I don't know). NAVEBLUE is like a website from 1998.

Sounds like you lucked into it then.

Because the process is separate, your request for a given RAP on a Reserve Bid Group will not be considered until AFTER you become a Reserve line holder, and AFTER your bid statements for Days On and Off have been considered. This is true no matter where you place your RAP bid statement on your bid group.
…

When awarding RAPs, N-PBS sees what Days you are working, looks at your RAP requested in your bid group, and then looks to the Company’s requirements on those days. You are awarded your requested RAP only if that RAP is still needed on those days.

yeah must just be a coincidence that once I was not a junior reverse guy anymore I magically starting getting the reserve I had on the top of my bid (eye roll)

Pro tip: if you are on the bottom of the seniority list you are probably going to get all the crappy reserve periods no matter what you have on your bid sheet. Funny how that works.

That’s actually correct. Naveblue doesn’t have the ability/software to prioritize rap and days off at the same time. It’s one or the other. It will assign days off in seniority order then after that run again and assign rap based on the days off you were awarded. So it’s handcuffed by those days off when assigning rap. If you don’t bid days off you’ll increase the chances of your rap bid. Now there’s no days off handcuffs. F9 has the same problem and it’s software. It doesn’t exist yet.

They could just add the all the RAPs individually to the big pot, instead of having reserve days in the pot. They know how many LCR, R03, R12, R19 aso they need for every day. They must know that because NB will assign that number to the people that end up with reserve days on their schedule. Just have to add a couple of rules about mixing RAPS, and every one can now bid R3 if I can hold weekends of LCR otherwise or whatever they want. Just because DL doesn't have RAP as part of bidding should not mean that NB can't be adjusted.

Those quotes are directly from our ALPA bidding resources. I didn’t make them up.

just so we’re clear. you are under the impression that there is no way at all to bid a reserve period. Even if there was nothing else on your bid sheet? Is that what you think?

ALPA bidding resources has said Days off has priority over R days…that is what they said.

you do have the ability to pick what reserve period you want.
