It just doesn't have to be one base. It sounded like multiple bases will be opened in the near future. It will almost be required, gate space is a premium at most of our bases. It will be hard to expand without opening more bases.

Phoenix, for the love of god Phoenix. Why we are not here is beyond me. It’s like the 6th biggest city in the country, has three major universities, tons of winter travel etc. AA and SWA both have large operations here.

If planning doesnt start resuming the levels of service to BWI as existed pre-pandemic, it doesnt look like that's a reasonable place to base. BWI is one city that NK appears to have seriously divested, still less than half the service offered than pre covid. Also appears some previously announced international growth there has been cancelled, perhaps due to MIA picking up those routes.
That said, I assume with the large population in that region and the success we had vs Southwest there, it's probably only a matter of time and aircraft before we boost it back up there.
BWI or EWR would fit directly into the 'where people live' if ACY is closed.
Otherwise, ATL or IAH makes the most sense.

We need another west coast base… SAN? PHX? DEN? Let’s step on Delta’s toes and invade SLC I’m surprised we don’t even fly there at all yet. Lots of growth opportunities out west and a lot of pilots want to live out there.

If we’re talking west coast bases the correct answer is LAX.
