You're not wrong, but Miami is a whole separate (and larger) market than FLL and I hope they build it up while keeping FLL. I would much rather drive or take the train to MIA if the other option is commuting to BOS or JFK.
Yes there are people who avoid Dade "like the plague" but there are also more than plenty who come here specifically for places like Miami Beach and Brickell. A lot actually.
