Wow, you missed the point entirely on about half a dozen posts directed squarely at you. Kinda impressive in a bad way.

They also have a snap up clause in their contract though. Good thing to have, someone hast to go first they just played it right. Same thing we should get in ours.

Now if we can get a snap-up clause in EVERY airline contract it could become a perpetual positive feedback loop, with everybody getting 2-3% more than the average of the rest. Sort of like a nuclear reactor when you pull out the control rods…

2-3%…. Not great, not terrible…

How sad. A few dollars more than Mesa.

Do you consider a $50 difference in top pay between a regional and a major airline to be a lot? Smh

Fo you bring this kind of energy to the UPS forums since their 1st year pay is less than Spirit’s?

Seriously? Every raise would cause every other contract to be renegotiated which would cause every other contract to be renegotiated which would require every other contract to be renegotiated …. Rinse and repeat. It’s a positive feedback loop.

(1.025)^28 would increase pay by a factor of two, and keep right on accelerating.

I think he was quoting the HBO miniseries, Chernobyl.

Check your math there ace. The difference between top pay at mesa and Alaska’s TA is $100 for F/O and $90 for Capt. Not $50

That’s a million billion dollars every hour, hour after hour, as long as the core contract remains exposed….

Very much like hitting critical mass - if we could actually con all the managements into it simultaneously….

FFS dude, year 1 difference is $4, top of the scale difference, fine it’s $80, I exaggerated. Are you still telling me that’s a lot? You’re not on the NC are you?

I don’t? Is there some sort of secret to reading numbers on a website?
year 1 :
mesa $100 Alaska $104

Top of the scale
mesa $220 Alaska $306

There’s other regionals that are currently topping out even higher. It’s sad that a major airline in 2022 couldn’t get a better contract.

MCDUmanipulator 09-25-2022 06:42 AM

Why is everyone from Mesa complete D bags?

Math is really hard for you. It’s not $80. It’s more. And it takes 19 years to hit top of pay at Mesa vs 12 at Alaska. Along with other things like 5:15 ADP and 17% DC. The difference is significant.

When you’re comparing 1 year, it’s not huge. A career, however, at Mesa vs Alaska is quite enormous.

Stop comparing different years. The rates on APC are for the same year of 9/2023:

Top scale play
Mesa 217 vs Alaska 318

12 year scale pay:
Mess 191 vs Alaska 318

thats a different difference of $101 and $127 respectively.

You think the rates at Alaska should be higher based on Mesa’s rates? Do you think Alaska has the same leverage that Mesa has? Step out of your idealistic college campus view of how the world should work, and step into the real world where things like supply and demand dictate reality.

That's rich, considering what Spirit pays new hires.

Meanwhile over at F9 we have a surplus of pilots, and because of our growth rate an FO can become a captain in as little as 4 years.~Barry Biffle
I’m not expecting much improvement anytime soon.

Good for you. Surplus of pilots, but the operation is still a dumpster fire. (Don’t deny it. I have friends that are colleagues of yours) enjoy that and go troll somewhere else

CincoDeMayo 09-25-2022 02:28 PM

Glad we are going back and forth on Mesa vs Alaska. Makes sense

It’s criminal, but Spirt and Mesa are not the same. Idk why anyone would even suggest that..

I think you missed the sarcasm with his post. I’m quite sure if it actually.

AR1978 09-26-2022 03:49 AM

Is there any indication that a TA will be coming out in the next month or two?

With Spirit losing over half of it’s new hires to legacies as well as things like the regionals and Alaska Airlines increasing their pay there appears to be pressure to come up with something. I’m not sure what that “something” would be though.

The only indication is 25-27 more meetings scheduled between now and December according to an MEC email.
