F9 guy. I’m not sure but, F9 doesn’t seem to be “killing it” in Miami. No one really knows what’s going on with it.
I believe they say it’s a jumping off point for Deep South. Idk. |

How does JB having an LAX base help Spirit if we “need” and LAX base?

Because by the time it would take to get the base up and running, we would likely BE JB.

The whole thing is spirit avoided rebuilding bwi to its prior glory in order to make MIA work. The problem was going from zero flights to 31 cities and 50ish flight per day in an unproven market, and it turns out it was a really bad idea. While BWI market was rebounding, F9 was adding flights NK stopped doing and couldnt get back into due to attrition and MIA. Spirit finally figures out MIA operation was a loser, and no bread and butter to redeploy, cuz Frontier does it now. And the second spirit bailed on MIA intl routes, F9 jumped on it. And now F9 going after SJU. I think Spirit's network planners finally getting the hint the they are getting owned by F9 and are at least going to try and fight for SJU.

With the F9 merger did they get to take a really close look at our books? If so expect them to move into most of our lucrative markets right? I’m grumpy to see F-9 growing at dfw while we ran a displacement that made attrition worse.

At least we’re adding 6 cities back to Dfw.

F9 does 4 international destinations out of MIA, I wouldn't call that getting owned.

It's not just MIA where F9 is poaching our old routes....Going from 12 intl routes to zero routes while Frontier goes from zero to 4 intl in one city while simultaneously losing multiple BWI routes and frequencies to F9 is relevant. We cant staff so they kill a sure thing to staff a mistake. That's why spirit doesn't make money. ACY-FLL historically 90% load 3 to 4 times daily, still only 1 a day, but opening ORF. Not opposed to new destinations, but would prefer restoring the network that made money first.
