Current Training Footprint Question
Currently have an interview scheduled in August with Spirit. Received an email from a recruiter with an outline of some benefits and bullet points on the training footprint. The following stood out:
• Five (5) full flight simulator training sessions in FLL
• Loft (conducted in the right seat)
• Extended Envelope Training (EET)
I know in a prior thread there was some discussion about Spirit altering the training program to adjust for the experience level of the pilots coming in; I believe (it's been a while since I read it) that 5 sims were deemed too few and the company was increasing them. Is the EET that additional training/sim component or is that something else? Or is the sample above outdated and there are more than 5 sims?

Relax babe, let it happen. You’ll be just fine, as were the hundreds and hundreds of pilots before who successfully navigated NK training.

I did laugh, though.
No, I'm not worried about navigating training, I'm just curious about the evolution of it. The regional I fly for does x-number of sims, followed by a set of specialized sims for certain emphasis areas - I guess I was wondering if this was the same kind of thing.

4 FTDs
6 Full flight sims
Type Ride
Loft
That should be plenty. "Back in my day it was 4 sims," and we were all fine.

We have so many FPT sessions that by the time you finish those, you'll be more than ready for the FTD sessions. After getting used to the flight deck layout and running some ECAM actions in the FTD, the FFS sessions really aren't bad.

Week 1 - Indoc / death by powerpoint (DPP)
Week 2 - DPP / 5 CPTs on flat panel trainers
Week 3 - go home and learn systems via iPad
Week 4,5 - 8 CSIs (Cockpit Systems Integration) - more flat panel trainers plus systems knowledge
Week 6 - 4 FTDs (full cockpit sims without motion)
Week 7,8 - 6 FFS (Level D simulator with motion), then type ride, 1 EET sim, and 1 LOFT sim
I hope that clears up any confusion about how "short" training is. It isn't, it's about the same as most places.
