Yup, it's a relatively lean probation year and more years of reserve after that, but with 5-6 hundred retirements a year and able to make CA as soon as off probation, your family's economic future is a little more assured. Everybody makes choices, it all depends on what you think is best for you and yours.

Just for clarification- you will get CA pay after 350 hours. But actual CA training starts once you are off probation and have 500 hours in UAL. That said, maybe only the first half of your new hire year might be a financial step back. After that you should be ok. At least financially if you like being on RSV for some time.

Two years after making CA generally which essentially means three years. But in August they are going to a general 18 hour long call reserve (with no trips before 10AM on your first reserve day in a group) in an effort to get more commuters to bid for narrow body CA. Plus serious ADD PAY for anyone willing to volunteer for short call. And you can aggressively pick up trips from open time to have at least some control of your own destiny while on reserve.

For those getting an interview, how long did it take to hear back?

Hear back what? The CJO or the class date? The CJO won't happen until the board meets the subsequent Monday. Notification may take anything up to a week after.

Class dates are two months out generally although DEC-JAN took three months.
