the window isn’t even close to being closed. A bid just closed with 200 unfilled CA slots in the majority of our bases.

If you (hopefully not) do get furloughed again right now classes at Atlas are quite quick. If you have a family to support or want to guarantee your currency then do apply.

Who knows? You might find yourself enjoying freight or passenger or military charter.

And for the record - the story of "17 days on the road" at Atlas are as hyperbolic as the "when Spirit goes up, crime goes down" reputation.

Now there are split lines *seven on, seven off or ten on, ten off) and you can bid to have up to 17 days OFF. Depending on where you live you can even end up spending more of your working days at home!

You can choose to ignore this post but again I personally remember what it's like to be on a sinking ship (so to speak) and wished that someone had told me about other options earlier.

Good luck to you.

OMG this post was a joy to read this morning 😂. Almost sounds like Atlas recruiter who has no idea what's going on in the industry.

things in this industry can change on a dime. Be polite, he’s trying to do you a favor. You never know when the job you turn your nose up at is the only one available.

This Atlas recruiter is trying to recruit based on fear, not by offering a better airline. Atlas only has business based on being the lowest bidder for contract work. FedEx can cut them off tomorrow and then they will be in shambles. And Cargo is not the place to be right now

Anyone over 45 and 15000 TT get a legacy interview? If so did you go to a job fair or meet and greet?

One anecdote doesn't make a rule and SWA has pressed pause, but... a few years back, my new-hire group had one guy over 60 with us. So at least SWA isn't hard-wired to exclude older pilots. As far as I know they're still hiring people who like to fly and have a positive attitude while "proving it" during the interview, regardless of age.

why would UAL have an issue with that? Seems to me you’d be exactly what they want because you’d probably jump at the opportunity to upgrade ASAP
