Never going to happen. That would be the last possible dance partner. I only see two possible suitors. Frontier or Southwest. One has money and one doesn’t and the one with money I don’t think is interested in taking on a complex merger with a bankrupt carrier.

My guess is sold for parts in 2025. Bankruptcy filing in Q3 2024

AA only has 15k pilots compared to 17500 at Ual and Delta. Taking NK would put them right around 18k pilots and our planes put them on a level playing field with Ual and Dal.

Seems unlikely but it's not exactly impossible

Anything can be accomplished with enough $$$

This guy gets it.

it is pretty clear we have no path forward (that will work). everybody keeps saying we will be fine. you guys are delusional.

Golden handcuffs, seniority, age, and an overall "Lost that lovin' feeling."

I have no desire to start this all over again. I will go down with this ship, rearrange my nest egg and take a $30k/year night warehouse job where I can listen to music, not deal with people, and sleep in my own bed without earplugs or alarm clocks. Biggest sacrifice will be stepping back down to driving a Mazda (not a Miata) and not getting that Ferrari I've always wanted. (Maybe a Miata instead?)

YMMV.

About as cool of a story as American buying Spirit. Time to abandon ship!

AA's single biggest objective has been to reduce its dissipating mountain of debt. I don't think AA management has interest in adding back to it by absorbing Spirit's current financial situation.

Maybe to make room for new debt that includes a bunch of experienced seat meat.

They are filling classes just fine and with a ton of spirit guys willing to start at the bottom of the list on year 1 pay

Still cheaper to acquire than hire. Especially with all the Spirit goodies that come along with a purchase!
Plus with a large influx of seat meat they could drop most of the Enoy pay incentives.

How is it cheaper to acquire than hire at year one pay? Why do you think back in the day the legacies would constantly move the RJs around to recycle the same pilots from company to company and start them over?

What spirit goodies? HQ? What else?

leased airplanes, an Everest of debt, and…

Boeing issues are only going to get worse, not to mention Airbus and Pratt aren't getting any better. . There’s like 10 new Boeing whistle blowers coming forward even with the other 2 being murdred. The legacies can buy whomever they want when ever they want. Who knows how many palms they greased to block the Spirit merger.

Kirby is on record saying that buying another carrier is not in the cards. An average merger takes about 3 years. In the span of 3 years, we United expects to grow to the size of Spirit and Frontier combined without all the hassle and debt accumulation

Dont think I mentioned anything about United, or its creepy short leader.

LOL SoFlo has been at United for like a month or two now.... He's excited and wants anyone and everyone to know about it.

SoFlo did the same thing as a new hire in the NK forums IIRC

Dude is the poster child for pretending to be the expert on xyz airline when he's only worked there for like 3 weeks...we don't listen to him.

You literally brought up legacies being able to buy anyone. Legacies include United among the others.

Heard plenty of rumors of the possibility of United potentially buying Spirit. Hence why I said what I said.

I’m definitely no expert, but what I posted came straight from Kirby’s mouth. Like him or hate him, it’s straight from the horse’s mouth. Shoot the messenger

You’re the messenger here pal hence why you’re copping shots. But glad to see you moved onwards and upwards.

it’s all good. I believe you that United isn’t going to buy us. why? Because markers in the industry are pointed to Southwest Airlines buying us.

Lol, they're buying Frontera before us. They're just as cheap, not loaded with debt, have just as many planes on order and they're planes are actually flying.

You also thought jetblue was a good idea. That worked out very well, yes? 🤪

Imagine lol All those pilots complaining about the 737 and they’ll get stuck on it. Oofta

This is the same exact thing Braniff was doing their final days. They were trying all different kinds of marketing tricks, and nothing worked.

FWIW, on 12 year pay, less than a decade to go. Have a CJO and waiting for the class date. Was just chatting with a friend from my year, little younger, has interview with a legacy, and he's planning to go too. Heard from a few FOs that the geezer they flew with before was trying to leave.

CatPilot1 05-08-2024 09:25 AM

https://thehill.com/regulation/trans...mpetition/amp/

Bipartisan support from both the far right and left. Spirit could benefit from this.

checkgear 05-08-2024 10:08 AM

Another one bites the dust.

Maybe I should take that CJO from Atlas after all…

Hawley and Warren? lol two of the biggest dip****s in a cesspool of dip****s.

Waiting until after they kill the merger to realize we gonna be nearly halved next year because their precious defense contractor friends cant make an engine without **** parts.

Whole lotta good more gates is gonna do.

Took the word out of my mouth. Dip****s! Ya know what would’ve added completion? A merger of Spirit and JetBlue!!!!

And since when is it the "big five"? Including Alaska now.
I guess so you know which side they are leaning on in that merger.

Except you leaving because you're a commuter and reasons the youger crowd is leaving are two different things. I cant blame either reason honestly and have left places for both reasons. My move to Spirit was the best thing I did in my career and it is still amazing! Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. I've also spoke with plenty, old and young, not leaving. Everyone has their reasons and there is still plenty that needs to play out here.

Enjoy your new gig and good luck. Honestly we're all going to need it in this current environment.

~40% gain since the May 6th low on fairly heavy volume. Dead cat bounce, short-squeeze, or is something else going on??? 🤔
