I’m honestly starting to think the execs are using this as an irrefutable reason to allow another merger!

All of spirits employees add up to small potatoes. It doesn’t even register

Unfortunately, I don't think that Spirit has quite reached that "too big to fail" status.

Also Florida is a swing state about as much as Illinois!! If Biden (or a Democrat to be named later) wins Florida then you don't need to stay up for the rest of the results because he (or she) has won the whole thing. A bailout/assistance from the government wouldn't move the needle much at all in Florida, definitely not enough to change the state outcome,

The nationwide effect isn't big enough to get government intervention and the political effect on the state isn't big enough to get government intervention, so I dont think any help on that front is coming

The government (the executive branch in this case) is kind of preoccupied right now.

They absolutely won't even blink over a Ch.11 filing, that happens all the time, like daily.

While the government could in theory inject themselves into almost anything, I'd guess the only way something like that would happen is if NK is deep in Ch.11 and it looks like liquidation.

Then the administration, if they were concerned about airline capacity, might step in and indicate they would allow a merger (possibly with conditions). Really the best they could do would be to offer to allow a merger/sale, it would be up to the parties to take them up on it and make it happen. The creditors would also need to prefer that route... pretty sure .gov can't just force creditors to forgo what they're owed to keep the planes flying. But it seems less likely that a merger could be put together that late in the game, although the BK process might make NK more attractive by unloading some inconvenient obligations.

Alternatively the BK parties + an interested dance partner might approach the DOJ and ask for relief.

This is all very hypothetical, I wouldn't bank on it, but it's not impossible either. I think in NK is near the Too Big to Fail threshold but of course that depends on the state of the industry, who's in power, and what else is going on at the time. Right now it looks like things will become more business friendly in Jan.

es, employees are irrelevant. Airline capacity is the only thing that might incentivize intervention.

How do you know he's not a 2nd year FO getting paid 60k a year on LTD with a stay at home mom wife and a new mortgage?

If spirit goes under the only job he's going to be able to get when he gets his medical back is at a regional. Even that might be tough depending on when the last time he flew was.

Especially after it was a big part of the DOJ's argument to begin with about losing seat capacity in the US market.

This 👆🏻only I get paid much less and it ends in 17 months, and I can’t work or jump ship because my file is collecting dust at the FAA.

To be fair, this isn’t the best place for sympathy…a lot of the pilot group is in a tough spot right now. Just venting like everyone else.

Can you explain why your LTD NK benefits end in 17 months (24 months total)
