Spirt filed for Chapter 11 again

No. They rarely do that intentionally, pretty much only with national security-related companies because they want some influence.
They'll do it reluctantly for big bailouts when Too Big to Fail companies are about to fail. Like large banks, auto mfgs, large airlines.
They only did the smaller airlines during covid because it would have looked bad to prop up the Big Four and let the rest die.

Seems ironic that the small government, big business Republican pilots are all asking for a government bailout. The hypocrisy of these bailout request by Trump supporters is poetic.

Good way to alienate a large group of potential passengers that would refuse to fly on a Trump branded airline. Narrowing the field of potential customers is not what Spirit needs at this time.

Ironic is it? Poetic? Look man this is all incredibly stupid and unnecessary. There are pilots of all political stripes at NK/B6 and we all got absolutely motherf*@ked by Lina Khan and the Biden Administration. I lean left and typically vote that way as well but there has been no one that has done more damage to my personal time on this earth than the previously aforementioned entities. We’re just supposed to pick a winner at the beginning of our career and then either it works out or it doesn’t. Whatever… it is what it is. We’re all just along for the ride I suppose.

I’m constantly amazed at the man’s ego, but I suspect that he knows that the media would eat him alive for having the taxpayers give a company more furniture to burn.

Trump talking about Spirit on CNBC this morning.
“I’d love someone to buy Spirit Airlines”
Goes on to say it’s 14,000 jobs and maybe the federal government should help out - “he told his people”.
He also said he does not want AA and United to merge.

AS/HA was during a perfect political storm... it was very clear that the activists in DOJ/FTC wanted to torpedo the deal real bad, just like NK. But the admin (or the party) decided that cutting loose a large employer and cultural icon in a deep blue state to sink or swim might not be good optics right before the election. AS management, whether by luck or design, had made an agreement with .gov that forced the timing of decision in the months before the election. Gov couldn't stall until after, they had to block the merger, approve or do nothing. They did nothing and said nothing, by default the merger was not blocked and free to proceed.
