The administration fired over 30,000 federal employees last year after taking office. Don't pretend they care about saving jobs.

I agree and you’re right, there is no legal reason for Congress to act. This is all just political grandstanding. Trump knows the value of the assets and the status of their books. He also knows that if there was value there to be bought and sold later for a profit that the private sector would have already done so. This is just like his big production about buying Greenland. He’ll double down on a bunch of claims knowing that nothing will happen. He knows this isn’t going to get through Congress, and if it did that it wouldn’t stand up to a legal challenge from competitors. This is all theatrics so that he can claim that he really tried hard and had a plan to save the airline that Biden killed.

There is a difference b/t "efficient/effective jobs" and "excess/wasteful jobs."

The pilots should just buy the company. Put your 401ks where your mouth is. Worth saving the company? Then fund it.

The odds of this government bailout coming in time is near zero.

I wish the best for Spirit, its Pilots, and employees. None of this is your fault and all we have is our best effort every day and the hope for a better future. Please keep your heads up.

Yes, this. Bill Clinton also took out the civil service trash back in the day. It's just routine housekeeping that shouldn't be neglected, nature of "industry".

YEP, this is nothing more than a midterm political play.

Spirit was knocking on death’s door before any government actions so it’s quite far-fetched to call that a direct cause. Contributing, perhaps, but direct—nope. The business model and management choices are the direct cause to why they’re backed into this corner.

Don't forget that Obama did the same thing. Were you in the military during the infamous RIFs? Seems to happen every ten to 15 years. Still, nobody has fired more government workers then Clinton.
