Ok, I’ll keep pretending. In the meantime good luck, we all are going to need it.

Frontier had a plan and it was starting to work. All I am saying is that if you help one airline because of a problem you created (jet fuel, war), help them all, or none. At least don’t pretend you are trying to save one airline when you are about to put three under.

…a problem you created (jet fuel, war, the Biden administration blocking an acquisition)…
Fixed it for you

Spirit also had a plan that was starting to work…it’s called being acquired by JetBlue

I think JetBlue had buyers remorse and helped kill the deal. If JB wanted them so bad, the could get NK for pennies on the dollar today and it would be approved immediately. Haven’t heard a word from JB.

They didn’t have buyer’s remorse…it made sense when they made the offer. It didn’t make sense to spend the money and the time to appeal the ridiculous decision. And it certainly doesn’t make sense now…4 years later

Had they not also blocked the NEA what was the plan then?

Maybe they should raise prices? If that doesn't work it's the business model that is bad and more money doesn't fix that. JetBlue is in a similar situation and they aren't a ULCC.

so you think the merger of 2 airlines on the verge of bankruptcy and unable to make a profit for many years can come together to make a profitable airline?? Do you have any idea how much mergers cost??? This is the the ́ most repeated senseless argument. Blame management and their plans not a blocked merger that would do nothing but make the iceberg bigger.

I didn’t make that argument. Not sure where you got that from. The fact is, the Biden administration successfully sued to block a merger on the basis that Spirit Airlines is too important for competition and the low cost consumer to go away. If they were right, then the government needs to make sure they don’t go away. If they were wrong, then they didn’t get a fair shake and the government needs to make it right. And who knows? Maybe the merged companies would have been in a better position to compete, but the government doesn’t get to pick the winners and the losers. Had they merged and failed, we wouldn’t be in this predicament…the free market would have decided. Or maybe we would be deciding this on a spike in oil prices alone…but we’re not, because that’s not what happened.

The combined package would be being bought by Alaska or United right now.
