There's one thing I've learned during my time at NKS. The "me, me, me" crowd has an evil twin called the "I don't want the me me me crowd to make more than me so I'll keep them down at my level and I'll be happy because we all work 18 days for 74 hrs pay".

At least we all get a non commutable four days off

Did I get it right?

Socialism.... Heaven forbid some of us actually want to credit 90 to 100 hours a month, and don't tell me I'm living beyond my means!

Make as much money as you'd like! I could not care less if you live at work. BUT, make the money within the language of the contract. Otherwise, cry me a river.

Next round of contract negotiations, let's improve premium pay, no trip averaging, improved retirement, etc....

I'm not sure if that was directed at me but the trip they called me for had just popped up in open time and was already 6hrs delayed by the time they called me. I don't think I did anything outside the contractual language

Whoever came up with that crap should be shot. I keep hearing two things over and over:

1. Reserve can't pick up OT. Really? People read the contract. 25.2.b.1.

b. Group “B” pilots may be used only if no Group “A” pilot is
available or when less than three hours remain to report time. The
Company will make the electronic general solicitation log in readonly
format, continuously available to the Association. Group “B”
pilots are to be assigned in the following order:

1) Reserve pilots for whom the assignment would schedule them
into a moveable day off but are otherwise within the more
restrictive limits of Section 12 and 25;

So yes. Reserves can work into a day off as long they are scheduled within 3 hours and group A pilots are exhausted and within 2 calendar days, etc... As long those conditions are met, yes they can.

2. Move up is illegal unless you are on the airport. Really? Not in the contract! Section 25.I.3

3. Crew Move-Up
In the event of an uncovered flight segment, trip, or the absence of a
pilot, a trip may be reassigned to any Regular, Relief, or Reserve pilot who is legal, qualified, and available to fly the uncovered flight segment
or trip. When assigning or rescheduling a pilot for a move-up it must be
made with the pilot’s consent, under the following guidelines:
a. Restore pilot to his original trip as soon as possible if economically
and logistically feasible.
b. Assign pilot to a trip or open flight segments, which will return the
pilot closest to the return date/time of their original trip.
c. If accepted the pilot receives one and one half (1.5) additional hours
of pay and credit above minimum guarantee per duty period of the
move-up trip pairing, in addition to pay protection for his original
trip pairing.
Example: A pilot is scheduled for a trip pairing with a pay credit
of 20 hours. He accepts a move-up trip pairing with a pay credit
of 15 hours that contains two duty periods. The pilot is paid above
monthly guarantee three (3) hours, and in addition, maintains the 20
hour pay credit protection associated with his original trip pairing.
The move-up pairing over-blocks to 15:30. The pilot is paid 20 hours
plus the three (3) hours above his monthly guarantee.

Nowhere does it say you have to be at the airport. But it does say that even reserves can get it.

So all you guys can cry me a river too.

Definitely not directed at you, Meatballs.....my apologies if it was perceived that way. I wasn't suggesting you were doing anything contrary to the contract. There are plenty of ways to make big credit months and still be compliant. Instead, it was a generalization to the many around here that simply abrogate the contract language in a effort to fatten their wallets.

I never said any of those items you've listed are outside the contract. I fully support guys making as much money as they'd like. Live at work, we don't have guys on the street, so if you want to pick up extra work and spend your life flying....go for it! To each, their own. Just do it within the language of the contract. It's really that simple.

Why do people have to credit 90-100? They should focus on asking their union for better pay rates or soft rules to get in 72 hours what they could get if they "worked" 100.

A buddy of mine wants PBS bad at Spirit. I fear for the pilot group if they don't understand the implications of just having PBS with no rules for it.

I've yet to hear of good PBS language! It only ever seems to benefit the top 10% to the detriment of everyone else!
