FWIW, they have been negotiating just 6 months longer than us

For you guys that we're here in 2010:
What's the next step after the end of mediated bargaining?

Maybe im skeptical, but I think people are on there for the MUP and the hope that a rookie scheduler will give them a JRM out of order.

Forcing them to go through the list only hurts them when they are short on time getting a trip assigned. Less than 3 hours they dont even need to call the Standing Avail List, they can go to the Group B pilots for assignment. So it doesn't even help in that manner. It just ties up a scheduler, trying to cover a trip 15 hours out, off of the Standing Avail List, while pilots wait on the phone for a scheduler to pick up..."Your call is important to us, you are number...10....your call is very important to us. Please continue to hold" (cue horrible hold music)

If nobody was on the list they would have to go right to JRM, forcing double pay, instead of selling a trip at MUP.
I totally agree!! Do you really think people are on the list to slow the company down? What a joke!! It's for MUP, they don't offer JA until they absolutely have to. If guys would stay off the list it shows the company that we sick and tired of their games at the negotiating table. I am sure they track the list to see how willing we are to "help" out. I have said it before and I will say it again, they will not give us a contact until they absolutely have to. Any deal with us will cost them cash! If we had a more aggressive union we might want to quickly organize a picketing event in ORD this week, the airport workers there are getting the news so why can't we be there to get a little recognition. Just a thought

I know for sure that schedulers have their favorite go to people to get a trip done. They know who lives close to the airport and who is willing to do the trips.
That being said, scheduling is now abiding by the 5 JM's a year now and won't exceed that anymore. There were several schedulers almost fired for going way over the 5.
I have noticed that scheduling has gotten better, there have been more hired. I think we have close to 50 or so and many of them seem very professional and are very nice people trying to do a difficult job.

Exactly. But hey, we're "making progress" and could even TA the section on transfer to non-flying or supervisory duty in as little as two months with some luck!

Had a new hire on the jumpseat last week. He said 3 things.
1. Some new hires are not making it through training.
2. Some new hires are being hired by legacies while still IN ground school.
3. We are hiring 45+ a month next year - using DFW sims to boost trainging throughput- (which represents a 50% - 100% increase to this year's hiring.)
Now why would we hire that many if we are getting only 15 planes next year??

This problem is approaching critical mass for the company. Hang in there we are about to get money

The part you are not acknowledging is that these guys are literally addicted. They will rationalize and justify whoring just about anyway til Sunday. They are hooked on that shiz.
