That's my line... I had to get a surgery and another semi invasive procedure this month and I lost a ton of pay for November. I'm out of sick time and I'm out of vacation. My spouse lost one of his two jobs; He lost his job because he had to be with me for the surgery. His employer refused to give him the time off because he hadn't been there for more than one year and did not qualify for FMLA. If I didn't get this surgery I'd be out of work till July or August. I carry the health insurance and I am the primary income earner. So sometimes you have to do what you have to do! So unless y'all want to pay my bills, and pay for what's going on in my life. Step the F off.
The reason it was on FB is that a friend of mine posted that he had the same type of schedule. I wasn't boasting, I was sympathising with him. Sometimes people have to work extra to make ends meet. Such is life. Thankfully it is available for when you need it.

If that's the only scraps you get in DOT, that's what you get. Most are low time turns and low time trips. Plus I can't flight international so that limits what lines I can hold and what trips I can pick up or trade into. I couldn't get a conflict this month because of what was going on, so you do what you have to do. I'd love to not do this, but I have to pay bills and other expenses. Losing a $h!t ton of pay in November plus having to take the temporary loss of spousal income, FTW choice do you have? I'm not going to take on extra debt to bail our selfs out. I'm going to have to suck it up buttercup and work more.
I don't have an Esclade, pfft, I wish

You don't need to explain yourself, it's just very depressing that an Airbus CA at a successful airline has to live like this to make ends meet. FAR117 compliant, yes but safe? No fng way. That schedule is not healthy

If you look at the actual trips, it's not that awful. It only looks bad on paper. There is plenty of rest, the trips are not productive.

Are you an FO? Not saying our captain pay is anywhere near appropriate but if you are a captain and a one month hit kills you even using sick and vacation time and even with your husband losing his job, I suggest you seek financial counciling. Even if you have a litter of kids one month shouldn't kill you. You've certainly made some serious financial missteps in the past if that's the case. That also lessens the leverage we have as a group. How will you go on strike if you have nothing for an emergency?
FO and single with no kids- same as above.
FO with kids and the single income you have a case for sure.
Shiit happens and maybe your over extended I get it. Correct it now by selling some stuff and downsizing cars or toys or house. When we walk out I expect you to be there whether you can afford it or not.
For the record I firmly believe you should have an escalade, a boat, and a big ass house. That's the type of compensation a professionally airline pilot should be earning. That's when we get the contract we deserve, not before.

And to think if she was at Delta she would only need to block 58 hours for December for the same pay check........ I wonder if the bank will take a "High Five" for a mortgage payment.
