Except for being another pit to throw our dues money into, what exactly will a strike center do for us? I'm sure bendo would be shaking from the news.

We have a SPSC committee which is actively organizing unity events (which is the first step...way before a strike) for the pilots and their families.
The strike center you mention:
The strike center will serve as the hub of operations for organizing pilot participation during ongoing contract negotiations, and for strike activities in the event a strike becomes necessary. - See more at: News Room - ALPA
Dont see any value in spending dues money (especially when we have a current assessment in progress) in renting some sort of office and posting a sign out on the door saying "Spirit Strike Center"

Yep, looks like you guys are chums. And those delta boys must be chumps then for throwing away good money. Guess they've got enough to toss.

IF so, why and what function does that serve at this time and is this a proper use of dues money?
Delta has over 13,000 pilots. Any thoughts about the idea that possibly, just possibly, a pilot group of 13,000 might have different organizational needs versus a group of 1400?
It seems you're trying to conflate the fact that Delta is setting up a strike center as meaning the Spirit MEC is lagging behind on what they should be doing at this time.

Humor me, you are the MEC chair and have full autonomy to pull the trigger and get Spirit a strike center. Are you doing it?

I'm not saying that, what I'm saying is, I seem to remember some sort of talk about strike prep and standing something up. Since that initial talk I've heard nothing else. I agree that DALPA standing up a strike center is posturing and may go some ways to showing their management that they're serious about negotiations, but they're never going to be released to strike. And speaking of serious about negotiations, I'm sure our immediate management (Bendo and Yuri) know we're serious and not happy about the previous company proposal, but from what has been said, the CEO and the board of directors don't seem to be fazed at all about the current state of contract negotiations. In fact, I'm guessing and it's just a guess, but u till this last board meeting, I'd suspect the CEO and the board thought we were quite happy, especially with our two and a half year upgrade. Threat of a work stoppage and a stop to the flow of profits is the only thing that may get the company moving on negotiations. Otherwise, why should they bother?
I know guys around here think it doesn't matter but we have lost 38 people so far this year while having hired 134. It is just beginning. Soon all those highly qualified people who put their apps out over the last year will start leaving.
Day late and dollar short will be the strategy once again by our all star mgmt team on staffing BUT they will start to feel the leverage of the labor market and get a damn deal done
