Haha the passive aggressive FOs. Sometimes goes for CAs, too.

I had a CA tell me recently that an FO was resetting the parking break at the gate I order to keep the clock going. This blew my mind that any FO would do that.
I totally get you're doing what's believed to be the best course of action, and there are many, but I can see some CAs maybe not liking that as much.

You nailed it. Why do pilots do other folks work while Bendo spews out drivel and free smiles.
Also, some of you instructors need to stop going into the office to do free work on manuals and such. It was embarassing enough having you answer phones in scheduling. Grow a pair and tell Mark O Conner/Jyri to P!ss off.

The problem I've seen (rarely to be sure) is motivated, "go getter" FO's who want to fix all of the things they perceive to be fixable in the Spirit ops system.
For instance, when something goes wrong at the gate with numbers, I send a text to dispatch but the FO want's me to call up dispatch and gets irritated when I don't. I would make an initial call, but dispatch is not staffed to deal with phone calls, it actually works better to fix the problem via ACARS. This lets OCC deal with things in order vs random phone calls. My phone call might interrupt the dispatchers attempt to fix a bigger problem.
After more than a decade of service to Spirit, I finally realized that no matter how much I "help" the operation, they (Spirit) will do things their way regardless.
They are making record industry profits on a percentage basis after all. Who am I to differ?
Some of the FO's especially the ones who came from regionals closely connected to their major partner seem to want Spirit to emulate a full service legacy. That's not the business model my friends.
Life will go easier, your blood pressure will go down, your ulcers will heal and your overnights more enjoyable when you realize that the job is to assist the Captain, not manage the company.

You guys don't get it. I do on my own exactly what they taught me in training, no more, no less, anything else, if the CA tells me to do it, fine, if not, fine. I dont turn the fasten seat belt on or off, if someone gets hurt, CAs problem, not mine. The only thing I won't stand for is unsafe. If a CA is unsafe, I'm gonna call him out on it, as I'd expect him to do to me. It's the CAs airplane, not mine.

I'm 100% positive your intentions are excellent, but as an FO, there is no "I'll sit them" down unless you're referring to the top of descent announcement. The CA is the one who will sit them down. If it's really bumpy and you feel safety is an issue, this would be a time to do your best passive FO comment Iike "seatbelt sign is off, you think someone may be up an around."
I had a CA tell me recently that an FO was resetting the parking break at the gate I order to keep the clock going. This blew my mind that any FO would do that.

Totally true, plus he calls the Captains in their rooms hour or so before van time to ask him what his/her intentions are regarding the Airmets along their route of flight. Super special.

Cmon this can't be real. Seriously, is there really someone out there like that? If someone called me in my room to ask about airmets, I wouldn't stop laughing until we got to the plane.
