RJ complex time?

RJ complex time?
Does an RJ (CRJ 200/700/900) meet the requirements of a complex aircraft? The definition in the FAR's says:
- A retractable landing gear (land aircraft only; a seaplane is not required to have this)
- A controllable pitch propeller (which includes constant speed propellers)
- Movable or adjustable flaps.

A CRJ technically is not a "complex" airplane as defined by the FARs. It certainly is a very complicated airplane (moreso than many airplanes that are actually classified as "complex," such as a Piper Arrow), but it does not have a controllable pitch propeller and so is not "complex."

It is confusing because:
61.129 (a)(3)(ii) Retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch propeller, or is turbine powered
and 61.31e Retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable pitch prop.

As PIC.
And before ICAO stepped in, the SIC didn't even need one of those silly little "SIC" type ratings.
He/she could operate that RJ all day long without a type rating.
If the person is flying PIC on the thing, putting the time in a "complex" category won't matter much. But then again, neither will it if they're SIC.

But he still needed some training, quite a bit in 121/135.
I wouldn't log it as complex, it does not have a controllable pitch prop.

This is the FAR definition of complex.

Does complex time even matter? I mean, once you have your commercial and CFI, does any care about complex time? Most jobs either want ME time or PIC turbine time so they are really not going to ask about complex time since those are assumed to be complex.
I always find people boasting about the number of complex time (which you are not doing, I'm just saying) about as important as bragging about how many landings you have accomplished.
