Default I'm pleased with the R2W program

I'm currently finishing my FW requirements and will be starting TSA's ground school in the next 30-45 days. I had some of my FW time before joining the R2W program, so I will still see a comfortable bonus at the 12 month mark. I'm very grateful for the advanced bonus from Trans States, and have no complaints. It comes with a two year contract which is quite reasonable, and a lot better than the 6-year contract I had to sign to get flight training in the US Army (and so far nobody's shot at me in TSA's program). No company is perfect, but I think TSA has a very fair and beneficial program for us helo folk. I think it's is a very good path into an airline career.

Good Deal! I accepted the offer from TSA and currently arranging scheduling for my additional FW training. I'm only about ~30hrs short so it should be quick!

Question for those who are currently in or finished with IOE, but first some background info. Due to low total time (410) and the benefit of a 12-month deployment's worth of cash in the bank, I'm going to self-fund a good deal of FW training before applying for R2W. I'll accomplish this on nights and weekends during my remaining time in service. Keeping in mind that lots of people on these forums say seniority is everything, should I apply the second I become eligible? Or should I take a bit of time to study and make sure I really have "jet stuff" down solid before applying?

Apply as soon as you can. If you want to read the book " Everything Explained for Professional Pilots" you'll be in good shape to start initial airline training. If you can make it through any military flight school you will be fine if you show up humble and ready to learn.

Thanks for the response. I have started reading some of that book and i'm really enjoying it so far. I'm ignorant of what is involved with ATP-CPT courses as well as IOE, so the advice is much appreciated.

I spoke with a recruiter about how it works yesterday. If you are accepted to the RTP program then you will be sent to an ATP-CTP course when you are done time building. It is about 8 days long and in Dallas area. After you are done with the ATP course you will go to saint Louis for ground school and IOE. The ground school takes about 85-90 days where you get your jet training and when done there you will do IOE. Initial operators experiance lasts for 3-5 days and it is basically hands on experience. You will fly as a first officer with an experienced captain for a trip. When all that is done you will graduate and go to your first base.

Just to put some more information out there. They just increased the bonus again this week quite a bit. Check out their website for more info.

Instead of starting a new thread I'm just bumping an old semi relevant thread.

What was the outcome of the RTP pilots that had received their bonus upfront just before the collapse of TSA. Did anyone ever hear anything about the money that had already been given? I guess this is relevant to any FOs that had received any money up front or just out of training.

I highly doubt a non existent company is going after unemployed veterans for bonus money.
