For what it's worth, I've heard (from management) that this is in no way for new flying. IAD and STL will be shrunk, over a period of time, and ORD will be about as big as IAD is now. IAD will see the bigger draw down of operations. Initially, it will be opened as a small base.
Not saying you are inaccurate, but remember last year when we were hiring like crazy and they said it wasn't for any new aircraft, then announced 7 new airplanes for United. Because the company is privately held things are held very close to the vest, so I wouldn't expect management to say anything about new planes before it's officially announced. That being said, what you are saying could be absolutely correct. Just a lot of curious things going on right now. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

You could be right as well. Years at TSA with one positive announcement among years of disappointment has probably jaded me slightly. I really don't think any airline can afford to stop hiring. Is there a regional out there that isn't hiring at the moment? Even if well staffed, if an airline stops hiring it might be tough to get guys to come back again.

Latest rumor I heard today was base opening in July, initially 10 positions. Kinda interesting we're starting an ORD base just as Chautauqua is ending American Service on August 15.

CHQ will park most of the airplanes before summer, ½ of them in the next month and they will only have 3-4 airplanes by 2nd QT... For AA that is, A little late to the party if you guys are showing up in July.

Thanks for the info. Could be the base opens in July, but we could always cover flying out of STL or IAD before July. Do you know if CHQ has a separate crew room in ORD, or are they all together in a crewroom with RP and Shuttle? Rumor floating around we are taking CHQ's old crewroom in ORD.

The rumor is floating around. Probably due to the speculation that we may be getting more airplanes and there are not enough FOs that can upgrade. I know the company sent a memo out asking all the FOs to report their current time in relation to upgrade. The company says it is so they can have a record of who is qualified for upgrade so nobody can get in class that isn't qualified. But its also awful convenient that they will know where all FOs are in relation to upgrade so they can determine if street captains are needed if new aircraft arrive.

Excuse the ignorance of this post, I've read the majority of the post here and have a few questions if someone has some time.
I'm interviewing with TSA in a week or two, the letter said business casual. What's the definition of business casual they are looking for. I don't want to be over dressed and I don't want to seem like a bum.
Also, what's your contract like? Cancelation pay? Rig pay? Is it still easy to hold a line out of training? How commutable are the lines?
Thanks
