It's not in management's best interest to lower TSA's upgrade minimums. If they lower the upgrade minimums more FOs will upgrade and they'll just be short FOs. If they hire street captains they won't lose any FOs to upgrade and will only have to pay for one person to go through training instead of two.

I'm interviewing with TSA in a week or two, the letter said business casual. What's the definition of business casual they are looking for. I don't want to be over dressed and I don't want to seem like a bum.

I personally wouldn't even consider not wearing a suit to an airline interview, regardless of what they say.
Your new uniform should you get hired will be pants, jacket, shirt & tie. No-one will criticize you for wearing that at your interview.

That's not true. If the email says business casual, google it. Can you follow simple directions like wearing that? Wear a collared shirt, tie and slacks. You'll be fine.

Well I guess there is someone who would criticize you for wearing a suit after all!
I would consider that to mean at a minimum business casual, meaning no jeans and sneakers. It certainly wouldn't hurt to go a step further if you really want the job.
Advising someone not to wear a suit at an airline interview is like advising someone not to wear a rubber in a Brazilian cat house!

Excuse the ignorance of this post, I've read the majority of the post here and have a few questions if someone has some time.
I'm interviewing with TSA in a week or two, the letter said business casual. What's the definition of business casual they are looking for. I don't want to be over dressed and I don't want to seem like a bum.
Also, what's your contract like? Cancelation pay? Rig pay? Is it still easy to hold a line out of training? How commutable are the lines?
Thanks

Decent contract, first year pay sucks (you'll find that anywhere) but second year pay is pretty good. 100% leg by leg cancellation pay and that is huge. For instance in January I got paid for 105 hours of credit, and I would have been below guarantee without it. No rigs but we get 4 hours min per day on reserve when called out. Can't answer the last two as these are constantly changing due to 117. Some months they have a bunch of buildup lines and they are experimenting with different trip combinations due to 117. Trips were pretty commutable before 117, but that's pretty useless info now.

If we hire street captains here is one less FO they will have to eventually upgrade. This is the only job where the quality of work and craftsmanship doesn't matter. It's all about some arbitrary number.

eagle went casual years ago and it is a shi+ operation. more interested how tight the dress is or if enough hair jell and spiked enough.

Last time they were talking about hiring street captains they just lowered minimums but now with FOs hard to come by, I'm sure they'll just hire street folks. If that's the case I pity those guys, they'll be at the bottom on reserve for a while as senior FOs upgrade. Street captains usually quit within 6 to 12 months too, not a good investment for the company.
