DCA/IAD Co-base
I've seen some of you mention a DCA/IAD Co-base. So if you are already IAD based, would you then be able to pick up trips or bid on DCA as well. If reserve, could you be assigned flying from either base?

Yes. Much of this is still to be determined but you will be able to bid and be assinged flying from either airport.

a few things:
1. Denver is slated for a March 1st opening
2. There are 12 in the Dec. 3rd class, 9 of them CQFO (from expressjet, envoy, Republic, Silver and Gulfstream) The 3 others are CFI, Cape air and retired Air Force looking for currency
3. they are planning on hiring 40 a month for 13 months (CQFO's mixed in mostly for the first 3 months)
4. 600 are planned (~200 CQFO's)
5. 2 upgrade classes planned 15 each, in Jan. and Feb. (that would be most of the FO's that are qualified to upgrade, the rest don't have the time yet)
6. CQFO's take their checkride and training in the left seat and then do about 30 min of right seat qual.
7. They don't have us planned to fly right seat...as in we will hold true upgrade almost straight out of training. (end of FEB)
I was a 2.8 year Shuttle FO...all the CQFO's have between 4000-7000 TT and 2000-5000 121 time.
I'll post more later.

Last I heard you get 60hrs/month till done with IOE. (Which is way better than all other regionals) probably plan for 3 months.. single occupancy hotel room (paid). Training will be in STL.

With that, you won't hold a full CA spot at the end of February. Feel free to correct me when youre a captain on March 1. Look at the standing bids. There are enough guys to fill a few months of upgrades at 8/month. Whether they will even run a class of 15 upgrades before the brunt of the airplanes show up still remains to be seen.
It's also common to TDY crews when starting a base like Denver. They aren't going to have airplanes for 35 crews on March 1. Will the base open? Sure. But it's not going to be even close to running at half steam for what it's expected to be eventually.

You've got some wrong info in here man. The upgrade notice is already out for January. 8 upgrades. Not 15.

You're right he won't be a March upgrade, but his point remains it will be FAST! I am glad he is making the right decision and taking advantage of a good thing.

Why do all the new hires think they will hold a captain position right off the back?
