I can't help but laugh at the genius' that went to RAH or SKW because "they wanted to fly the 175". Have fun putting that miniature gear lever up and down for half a decade, and then doing it at a major again for a former TSA guy that flew the 145 and got in and out in 2 years.
boom.....!!!

I agree with you that they don't care what turbine plane you flew. There will be guys from 135 opps that flew Convairs around ( SWA has hired a few). Unless someone has high time coming in to TSA they won't be at a major in 2 years ( unless they were an intern at that major or have higher up connections.) They will need around 4000 TT to even get looked at without connections. Plus the majors really don't care as much about Turbine PIC time as much either. At XJT we have lost 417 Fos this year so far ( now 50 have gone to other regionals so take those out and its 367) to 326 Ca s. So we are losing more FOs to majors or corporate than Ca s. The only place Turbine PIC counts right now is SWA, Fedex and Alaska ( I believe).

Anyway, you need shinny jets to attract brand new CFIs... I don't see why anyone who doesn't qualify for the CQFO program come to TSA to be a plain FO (unless they live in STL).
I'll give you two real easy reasons. Our FOs make as much as a year two FO as a Mesa FO does in year four. Mesa has a line guarantee, not cancellation pay and that can mean an extra 20 hours a month with part 117 cancellations.

The E2 TSH has on order only has one more row and different engines than the regular 175. The E2 can be configured for 69 seats also. It fits under all scopes.

So, nice try.

It seems that many CFIs don't care about stuff like that....

You completely missed my point, but whatever...
Good luck in finding regular FOs.

Most of the ones I talk to do. Maybe they are brighter than you are and are smart enough to be more worried about the paycheck than the shiny jet.

If I were hired, I would be a regular FO. Granted, I have a lot of 135 Jet SIC time and King Air time. Of course we are all worried about the paycheck (mine will be cut in half), but at the same time, we know that its a stepping stone to hopefully something better in the future.

Its becoming increasingly difficult to go directly from an only-corporate background to the Legacy/Major/LCCs, so we are forced to make the jump to get our 121 operating experience and right now is a good time to make the jump.

E175 E2 MTOW is too heavy for AA, DAL, and UAL scope clauses.
