The regional whipsaw might soon not exist with the lack of pilots as well as consolidations that will happen next few years.

Sounds good but regional pilots are walked over so easily because we are essentially indentured servants to a seniority system at a contract carrier under constant threat of the regional whipsaw. It really is that simple. If I was a lawyer and wanted a better firm to work for, I wouldn't have to start over at the new firm working weekends as a paralegal. If I was a teacher, I wouldn't have to go work in the cafeteria or be a janitor.
Our light at the end of the tunnel is a job at a major, and like an indentured servant, we have little opportunity to better our situation and put up with years of crappy treatment to get our freedom, which for us is that mainline job.

I love how pilots are so egotistical to think that the absolute only reason that a company either did not bid for, or lost a bid for flying was because of them.
Anybody ever think that Skywest Holdings realize the impending pilot shortage and decided to wash their hands clean of flying they knew they could not staff? Or that SKYW looked at the cost of the operation vs the profit and realized it just wasnt worth it? Every time a company goes into negotiations with an ALPA carrier we are reminded of how little overall the cost of pilots are when compared to the whole picture, but then in a case like this its made out to be that the pilots contract was the sole reason that a bid for flying is too costly.
If you truly believe that the reason why United is transferring E145s from SKYW to TSH is because of the pilot contract, then management has won.

XJT turned down delta flying this summer. Republic can't handle their DL flying and are trying to pawn it off to other DCI carriers. we were offered more block hours this summer, we said nope! don't wanna run ragged like everyone else, not for what DL is offering. Supposedly, we are holding out for actual airplane growth, not just extra block hours for airlines that can't staff. I think endeavor is picking up a lot of slack from Republic, not sure on that one though, I know its not us. we have extremely low open time avail for may/june thus far. and extra reserves!!! I'd never thought I'd say that out loud.

XJT seems to be in the business of under promise and over deliver vs the alternative. Just a quick glance at the performance numbers for United and XJT has been at the top the past 6 months straight. I'm normally a 3am callout for IAH and I just called and got 8am! Sad how things are so bad that I get excited about an 8am callout!!!

"The industry average for on-time arrival rates was 81.8 percent of flights, compared with 80 percent in 2011. Hawaiian Airlines had the best on-time performance record, 93.4 percent in 2012. ExpressJet and American Airlines had the worst records with only 76.9 percent of their planes arriving on time last year."
At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter anyways. XJT is expensive and is why they are shrinking. And there's really nothing the pilots can do about it.

Anybody live in the IAD Dulles area within an hour? I've been thinking about moving to Virginia because I will most likely be on eternal reserve as a CQFO and eventually CA. Just trying to get an idea what areas would be good and affordable. I live in FL now. I have a future fiancé that I'd like to see more than 5 days a month lol.

What's the odds that a new-hire would get DEN domicile? Any talk of additional west coast bases?
Thanks!

I've done Gaithersburg md, Ashburn va, and reston va. Two bedroom in reston runs around 1,600. Only 15 minute drive to the airport. Same with Ashburn.
