Yep that's why I wouldn't expect much of a bonus, but I know there are a lot of guys upset about the hiring bonus right now that didn't get it. The company needs to get this TA passed to help attract new hires, so that would be the economic rationale for offering a bonus.

Hopefully we'll see this TA soon, but the information put out so far looks good, but you never know till you read the TA.

32% of this pilot group won't be able to vote on this TA and possibly more...this is just the numbers from the July seniority list with pilots under 1 year..

That's what I've heard. If they keep the bonus, plus the new first year rates (rumored) our first year FO's are going to be towards the tops of the industry in pay.

Looks like improved reserve rules are part of this deal as well, and PBS negotiations will occur once (if)this TA is ratified.

How are you getting this info? When are they gonna distribute this TA to the pilot group?

Check your PM. Heard a rumor that the email may be out tomorrow.

"Signing bonus" is to compensate for the lack of pay raises for captains...
Terrible increase for them.. Good improvements for FOs, mediocre retirement. At best...
Best part is 150% for any reroute outside of scheduled trip.

I will be voting this down. I need PBS tied into it.

Were you hired in September of last year? Also why would you want to tie the contract to something as polarizing as PBS. Take the money now and deal with PBS later

It's been a few years since I was there, but the reserve language was awful. At the time, it was also policy that a year 1 FO could not/would not get paid for a sick call, which is not only morally wrong, but a potential safety hazard. I don't know if that is still the case.

There are a couple of things you guys need to keep in mind here. As FK says in another post, some form of bonus with a new TA is standard. The terminology matters because of tax implications, but either way, there will be something.

As far as the idea that the company won't want to pay to keep people from jumping ship, you need to remember this: any such cost is only going to be incurred if UA and AA agree to cover it. I work for UA, and the company is well aware of the pilot shortage at the regionals, and they know that if monetizing an incentive is necessary to get people to come to TSA is necessary, those cost need to be addressed in the code-share contract.

Whether or not you guys vote it in, obviously, is a different story.
