So I’m one of the Compass guys that have been placed into the hiring pool. Initially I wanted to wait for Compass as I’m on the West Coast however there doesn’t seem to be much if any movement there. Being offered positions at either GoJets or TSA I was favoring GoJets because of the bonus and what I thought was a junior FO base in DEN. Now it seems looking at GoJets Den is senior and TSA is offering a much larger bonus and junior Den base. The money is not as important to me as a short commute, can anyone confirm junior bases at either for both FO and CA? Thank you in advance for any input. Lastly I have done my research and I’m well aware of the stigma of these two choices, I do have my own reasons.

It's a regional... nobody wants to be here forever. The ones that are forced to be are bitter that they can't get hired by "a major," and in my experience they are few and far between. As I've said before, get in, get your time, move on. For now this makes a good situation for a first airline position and gaining experience even better. No regional will ever compete with $85/hour first year pay flying a 737, anyone who thinks so is delusional.

DEN is the junior base for FOs right now. Every new hire is being sent to DEN with most of the growth coming into DEN. American side will remain about the same size it is now. IAD will shrink slightly more than it's current size. CA junior base has been RDU for awhile, however some have been upgrading into DEN lately. DEN has the most block hours per base, however the flying is being done by DEN, ORD, STL and even IAD crews. We've been told to expect some new city pairs out of Denver in the near future. Hope this helps.

Dream on. The folks at Comair flipped the script back in 2001, but in roughly a year pilot groups were shoving each other out of the way in their eagerness to start giving it all back. Whole new airlines were conjured out of thin air solely on the premise of undercutting the established bottom-feeders like Mesa. The sad fact of the matter is that any time that management wants to screw you, they rarely have to look any farther than the person sitting next to you in the cockpit to do it for them.

Started out with negotiations. From what I understand the negotiations started to break down when the union tried to get equal retention bonuses for captains and FOs. Holdings didn't feel like retention bonuses were worthwhile for captains. So they ended up coming to the union with this package as kind of a "take it or leave it". Certainly not ideal, but the union secured bonuses for everyone by agreeing to the package, although the captain bonuses are smaller than people hoped for.
The union is still trying to negotiate higher pay rates across the board as part of our upcoming PBS agreement/vote.
