I stand by my original comment. Let's step away from the semantics of who took and who gave and call it a happy coincidence that SKYW is expanding as the customers they serve (majors) are shrinking. The fact is, that is where SKYW's growth is coming from.

They may be growing, but that is not the fault of the pilots "siphoning" your jobs. You imply that it is directly their fault. What are they supposed to do? Say no? Refuse to fly them? They've been around with United for years, why is it that United Pilots don't put their foot down to said "non union" carrier?

The statement goes both ways 767Pilot

I'm not saying ours is the best in the industry, I'm just saying that we have some good aspects that I know majors wish they had. I'm sure the majors have things we wish we had as well. So let me rephrase and say some aspects might be better and some may be worse, but all in all it's a very good contract none the less.

See that's part of the problem. Contract isn't all about the money. You are quick to quote money figures, why don't YOU do a bit of research to find out that we have a contract that has some good perks.

All I'm saying is that not every person out there wants to be YOU or WHERE YOU ARE AT!

There are a lot of people at the regionals that enjoy where they are. AWAC is a good example of a carrier, a regional carrier, that people did and still do retire from. We've always been respectable.

But, Tony, who replied isntantly about money, just goes to show you where the shallowness lies. It isn't all about the money. Maybe for you, but not for me. It's about family and spending time with them.
OK. You are the one who mentioned United specifically and United has 12 days off and has always had full DH/ferry pay, so again, please explain how you can justify such an outrageous statement. Did you mean other UAL Express carriers? I don't think there has ever been a pilot leave UAL to go to Air Willy unless he was furloughed, but there certainly has been a ton of Air Willy guys come to UAL including in the latest short lived hiring spree. Just flew with one the other day. He is facing furlough and still no regrets. Just keep telling yourself how good your regional job is. In reality, I believe you have given up. Resigned yourself to a regional lifer. Good luck with that.

That's been my choice from day one. Resigned, you've got a lot to learn my friend. MY CHOICE. I'm happy with it. Wasn't it United that for a while had a minimum of 10 days off per month? I was told by several of the jumpseaters after bankruptcy. I mentioned United for the days off, or so I was told. I specifically said other carriers contracts as well. I know of a few that have less than full deadhead and mx cxl etc. This is not a direct attack on United or anyone else. Again, all I was saying was that contracts differ. I'll digress from your precious United. Let's just say that contracts differ and from the jumpseaters I've talked to including many mainline guys from many carriers, I know we have a few things they said they wish they had. Again, as I'm sure you all have a few things we wish we had.

But, DO NOT proceed to tell me that I have given up. You have NO right to tell me why I have made the choices I have made. I never once criticized your choices or why you had made them. You have NO idea as to why I'm here and not at a majory. I'll say it again JSLED, not everyone wants to be at a major. Some are happy to be where they are at for their own reasons. I could care less to go to the bottom of anyones list EVER. Especially with the uncertainty that lies out there. This is and has been my choice, never have I though any different. Not because of any other reason other than my QOL. I hardly need to justify myself to you, but seeing as you see the majors as the ONLY way to an ultimate career all I can say is ...."GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!"

LMAO, how shallow.

SkyWest may be non-union....but hey, we're NOT furloughing.
Yeah, your not furloughing YET! Big Brother has problems, YOU have problems.

You are flying for an airline which exclusively flies code for US Airways which has filed backruptcy twice in the last 6 years, and you are talking uncertainty? And Air Willy's contract is better than United's? Surely you see the insanity in such statements. 10 days off? OK, once upon a time, our nb reserves had 10 days off, but heck, once upon a time my 4th year copilot pay was 170/hr. Why live in the past? Our contract sucks but most here will agree it runs cirlces around any regional out there.

I've made it quite clear that I believe we have some good aspects and bad aspects, just like every carrier out there, but never have I said that as a whole our contract is better. I see how that came across and I have since retracted that to state otherwise.

What I don't like is you judging why I stay where I'm at. My family and QOL. I don't need the big metal and legacy. I don't judge you and why you are at United, but you have the audacity to judge me and why I'm at AWAC. Who are you to judge anyone. Comparing good and bad in contracts is not judging a person, so DO NOT judge me.

I'm happy that you have the career you want. Don't question me on why I'm happy where I'm at.

I'm glad you are happy with the career you have at a regional. Kudos to you and your family.

However, why hang out in the "MAJORS" forum on APC and feed the fire to guys who actually work at the majors or people who are trying to get hired at the majors. It seems like your just here to poke and prod people and tell people how good you've got it?

It's very interesting how territorial pilots are to their respective company in this industry...

I apologize if that's how you feel. I just don't like people stating that it's always the regionals fault. That tends to pi$$ me off. It's just a poor and readily used excuse.

However, I do like to keep up on how majors are doing. I do support them wholeheartedly. I will stand behind them. But, I will stand up when I see individuals try to blame it all on the regionals and how we have screwed the industry.

Some of the majors I have good friends at that I am concerned for and one major we work for. The success of the majors determines wether I keep working or not. So I have a dog in this fight.
