[emoji1369]. Exactly.

No one wants to pay more than the gong rate for anything. To an employer, what makes one pilot more valuable than thousands of others with equal ratings? Of course I'm more valuable in my mnd but good luck convincing anyone else. Flying is not that exclusive and we all punch a clock. We would be better off improving the front end of our careers instead of trying to get it all at the end.

I would say yes except that, if there's anything worse than living hand to mouth as a youngster, it's doing the same with a worn out back at 60.

Support agency shop fees.

No, national labor laws are unconstitutional. The state level is a different matter.

Then why is the pay rate for Delta, FedEx, United, UPS, and American all different from each other? And why do they pay more than the majors?

Yes lots of people will buy based on price, but not everyone. Some people want the best and are willing to pay for it. Businesses are the same way. They want the best most experienced pilots and are willing to pay for it.

Is that not the definition of free-loading - taking advantage of others' efforts while contributing nothing?

Again, federal labor laws are not authorized by the Constitution.

I agree, but unions should not be given special benefits and privileges by the government, on any level. A business should not be forced into a union if they do not want to be. And they should be able to choose whether or not they want to have both union and non-union employees.

If unionism is such a good idea, then why do you have to force people to join?

Businesses aren't forced into a union. As a matter of fact, no one is forced to join a union.

But it's only fair that a non-union member pay a fee for the services provided, right? Why haven't you answered that question?

Compensation packages drift depending on the economic conditions during contract negotiations. Pilots at the majors took their 30% cut, downgrades, and decade of frozen pay because it was still better than any other job that they were qualified to do. UPS truck drivers make more than most major pilots under 45 these days.
