Default B747 domestic

Does United still fly the 744 on any domestic routes?

When I was there they flew it between hubs.

Gup

The 747 pilots get easily confused if they fly short domestic legs with no breaks. Almost as scary as flying with a guy from the training department....

You mean the GUPPY with no RAT, Standby Navigation, or an APU which is not guaranteed to start above FL250?

it's all about $$$ Money, Money, Money - Money https://youtu.be/GXE_n2q08Yw
Personally, I don't care what flies where, as long as we make $$$, stay competitive, I make $$$, and get profit sharing $$$.
Why pilots always think, they know more about business then anybody else? Start your own airline and shows us how it's done!
Be happy you make good $$$ enjoy your benefits, and enjoy flexibility in equipment variety. If we would operate the way the pilots want, you'll be looking for a job as a contractor in NAI for $100K on the left seat under Asian contract, flying B737MAX over Atlantic.
When you were flying RJs with 4 hours legs, have you asked why, or you just happily log those hours for $50K on the left seat. Now you are a hot shot legacy pilot asking why are you flying a Guppy over Pacific to Hawaii and sit on the beach for nearly $200K on the right seat? Ohhh, you poor pilot.

And no crew meals!! Hopefully the blankets will be the right color so they don't cancel the flight.

Pleeeeasssse! When was the last time anybody lost a B737 over the ocean due to engine or system failure? So far they can't find B777. Most recent accidents are human factors not mechanical breakdowns. Pilots are on the verge of obsolesce. Enjoy what you have before automation and technology engineer you out of the flight deck.
You want to talk about safety; how safe is it to have pilots on heavy for 20 years as RIO and do few landings in the sim every 3 months; is that safe? Or putting 500 hours C172 pilot on the right seat of RJs with newly upgraded CA with 1500 h. and let them go into central America at night in thunderstorms and no radar, is that safe? What about 3 or 4 pilots that weight over 300lbs and don't exercise with medical limitations and bag full of meds at the controls of B777 or B747 with 300 pax, is that safe?
There many factors that affect your life everyday, we mitigate many of them by technology and training; in case of pilots, technology has taken over and pilots no longer are able to do basic straight and level flight with out autopilot; new hires are afraid to make a short approach in VMC without ILS or guidance. You want safety; dig a whole or fined a cave and hide.
