My point is, don't plan on lapping up that gravy. Overtime is ethereal. It takes a certain amount of horsepower and luck to realize it. I apparently, have neither. Its great if you can get it, but don't base your budget on it.

I'm sucking min guarantee eggs right now. Tho I've checked the VDO box, I'd probably have better luck trying to score a date with (insert your generations hottie here).
AH Yes... But if you picked up all that open time you wouldn't have time to imbibe a few drops of sweet nectar. But then if you don't pick up open time then how are you supposed to buy it? Decisions..

Good Lord Man that's Pappy!

Well done. It's virtually unobtanium in The Commonwealth. One needs to first sign up for a lottery (sounds communist to me), then WIN the lotto, then pay out the nose for the privilege of carrying a bottle home.

Sipping some W.L Weller 12 year old Special Reserve as I type this. The head of B Trace Distillery claims that its the next best thing, and cheap. Try some if you can find it.

Vdo's only apply before reserve days. A vdo after rsv is a rolled day off.

Not sure if I'm misreading or you don't quite get it.

Say you have RSV M-F but the Sunday before you start reserve you have listed for VDO. CM calls Sunday and has a 4 day (typically leaving as soon as you can get there. You get VDO for all 4 day even though 3 of them were already RSV days. The one day (Sunday) is repaired as a day off. Usually next available day, which would be Thursday but they might swap it for Friday since it would be one day off and one day on call, or you can negotiate for a different day.
Or you can ask them to not restore the day off for 4 more hours of add pay.

Now same days on RSV but you listed your Saturday after RSV days as VDO. A 3 day starting Thursday comes up while on long call on Wednesday. You could be assigned that trip (if you are only one available) without your consent and you will only get VDO pay for Saturday. (Obviously this would have to be a legal assignment and 30/168 would have to be met.)

Been there, done both scenarios. I recommend putting VDOs only before RSV days and leave a HDO after RSV blocks until after you are released from your last day of RSV.

You used to be able to buy Weller 12 yr for less than $30/bottle. Now it's sold for $15-30/shot at most bars. You can't find it anywhere, let alone any Pappy. I won the lotto to buy Pappy 23 year from a Northern KY liquor store a few years ago. As part of the deal I had to buy a bottle of Angel's Envy but I paid retail for the Pappy, about $150 if I recall. Best thing that I've ever tasted!

There is a big difference between Weller 12 yr and the "Special Reserve." Special Reserve (green label) is not that special but is cheap. 12 year (black label) is really good and has a whiff of Pappy.

The extension did more for reserves than you can image. On my aircraft every 3 or 4 day pairing is worth nearly $10K. When a trip pops in to open time those trips are immediately picked up by pilots in the double digit seniority. Then we have the reserves who live next to the airport and they volunteer (beg) for every trip trying to break guarantee.

I have not been to the airport since November 5th ( except for landings at Boeing). Every few days Scheduling calls me and gives me $328 for answering the phone. Looks like a line for April, don't know if I can afford the pay cut.

Depends on the domicile and seat. Glad you are getting some.
