And we are going to have 1,000 airplane mainline fleet by 2020 as well. I was at the meeting and heard it from the horses mouth. So it has to be true!
I was at another meeting several years ago like 10 or 11, when we were told by then system chief pilot that the A-340-600 was a done deal. How many if you guys have been through A-340 transition?

I think it gives away too much marketshare away to competitors who dominate Dallas and Miami.
The real troubling issue for me is that we are still rearranging the deck chairs. The bumps/displacements are a direct result of management's continual indecisiveness as to how they want to compete. I am a bit impressed with how Delta is taking our premium customers and competing.

Denver is the new Houston. It will grow. IAH continues to lose quality flying, especially to lucrative international destinations.

Luckily I just have to move the stick in 4 directions, and the throttles in two.

The only 'lucrative' international destination lost in last 2 years from Houston is Lagos. The reality is that Houston was always a larger base to the detriment of other bases. It had to get corrected eventually.

^^^THIS^^^ IAH isn't going anywhere... and it was a good hub for LCAL... but now that we have combined domiciles and have a better clue where the $$$ is at the bases are going to morph in size based on the benefit to the network. IAH it will probably continue to downsize until its about the size of DEN is currently... while DEN continues to grow. This is no different then what is happening in DCA and EWR... EWR intl flying is growing at the cost of DCA... but DCA will also never go away because of the Fed Govt contracts/$$$... which is why your seeing some intl downsizing and growth on the domestic side. This is my take on whats going on... but what do I know?
