Guam Based Pilots

You can stretch it out a little with familiarization days & move days if you want to, but really not significantly different from any other base. Around 6 weeks for indoc/sim & you can do your IOE in base.

This thread has piqued my curiosity about Guam.
Do you still get the $3K extra if you are a commuter?
Are there regional-style pairings? 4-6 legs/a day to the closer islands? Or are all the out-and-backs one turn and done?
The free shipping allowance on UAL Cargo- is it door to door, or just between UA cargo facilities?

Yes

Mostly turns but historically there have been many variations on daytime & nighttime multi-leg island runs. Currently the island hopper does exactly what you’re describing from Guam to HNL. Usually runs as a 3 or 4 day trip.

Drop off & pick up at UAL cargo facility only. You have to be the one to handle the shipping, but you can designate one other person who will also be authorized to do it.

Is there any advantage to going to GUM straight out of training as opposed to transferring out there in year two or three?
Someone above mentioned that you start out on second year pay. Is that only in the first year, or do you get third year pay in year two and so on?
Thx

All Guam based pilots are paid an additional $3K (taxable) per month regardless of seniority, years of service, or residential address.

The benefit you’re referring to applies only to first year pilots who commit to 18 months in Guam. They’re put on the second year pay scale during their first year. All other Guam pilots are paid at the applicable contractual rate.
