Shortly after, they issued a bid that moved a huge anount of 737 flying from EWR to IAH which tilted the division of the house vote from EWR to IAH. No one seemed to give a **** then when a ton, I think it was somewhere around 60-80 positions, moved from one base to another purely out of spite. It was a great day when Abbott got booted.
It sucks to see any base contracting because of the human cost to those living there, but IAH is apparently not where the money is now. I don't get it either, it's a large population center in a market we dominate, but unlike the move of flying out of EWR, this is not a punitive decision. |

Don't worry, those of us in California won't ask for any of the federal tax money that goes to Texas from California as long as you promise to keep the heat and humidity in Texas.

You're taking credit for taxes paid by the top 1% of CA residents. You on the other hand get to deduct your CA state taxes from your federal tax burden, which is a subsidy. Let's not talk about poverty levels and social entitlements keeping a sizeable portion of the states population afloat.

a Radio show just said Houston just edged out Chicago to the number 3 spot in population. Most of the normal websites don't show it yet, but this radio guy had a census type person on the show talking about population growth trends, demographics, and such.
Evidently some townships not formerly considered as a part of Houston are now as such. Conroe, Texas is north of IAH. Now the fastest growing city in America, in the fastest growing county (Montgomery). I am told Conroe is now considered a part of Houston for census purposes. |

So are most of our "cities". Making the "rings" bigger for bragging rights really doesn't mean anything. |
